In Jan (when I bought my dress) I decided that a wine color bridesmaids dress would look best. I decided on an Alfred Angelo strapless floor length dress. My 'best friend' is getting married in may of 08 (5 months before me). She wanted tea length dress for her BM in a green color. Then she changed her mind and decided on a cherry red tea length. Well, the tea length one she wanted was discontinued before any of us could order it. So she picked another BM dress that is now... strapless, floor length, in cranberry (its by jordan) I think our BM dresses now look identical. The color is almost exactly the same. She thinks I am being petty over something as simple as a color... but I picked mine out months ago and mentioned it at least 20 times... then she goes and picks almost the exact same thing? Am I wrong to be upset?

I would be annoyed to but since you will have different guests it might not be that bad. Maybe she liked your choice so much it inspired her. If she is truly a good friend they are hard to come by so I would just drop the subject.

I said no.. i would be upset but I wouldn't go nuts over it. Are the same people going to be at your wedding? Even so I highly doubt anyone would recall bm dress colors. Now if you entire weddings are the same color and both of you are using a heavy amount of the color through out hte wedding then i would be pissed.

i would be a bit upset. i didn't think i would be but a similar situation happened to me and so I def know how you feel. my friend is getting married a month before me and i try to make it clear what i am going to do but it seems like it doesnt get to her and she went with some similar things - including booking the same vendors. Its annoying, i know. but dont let it get to you. its not the worse thing that could have happened. good luck.

The exact same thing happened to me! I told my GF (also my BM) that I wanted sage. She said she wanted olive.
So we go BM dress shopping for her wedding (hers is Apr 08, mine is Jun 08) and she ends up getting sage.
BUT, what are you gonna do? No big deal, it's just a bridesmaid dress... I was actually hoping that she would pick the exact same style I want so that maybe we could swap some dresses so the girls don't have to spend so much.
Don't be upset, there are much worse things... Keep telling yourself, it's only a dress, it's only a dress, it's not MY gown...

i dont blame you! i would be upset too!!! we put so much thought and effort into these things and it hurts when someone comes along and just does something like that! i hope you figure something out! maybe a sash that you can put with the dress?? or something to change it a little.

My entire wedding is going to be based on this color... even the cake I picked has wine color in it.
I know she is basing her flowers on the color of the BM dress (which means her CPs and decor will match as well)
I know a lot of people say no one remembers the BMs colors... but in my family it is different. Everyone remembers everyones color. When I first got engaged... I was thinking maybe a blue for the BMs (cause thats my fav color) and everyone in my family was like 'as long as its not navy blue cause that was your cousins color' My cousin got married 3 yrs ago. Even my half sisters wedding from over 11 yrs ago everyone remembers she used plum. I guess some people don't care but to me it is important.... when we are looking at each others pictures after the weddings... they are going to look almost identical.

just go with it! you already did so much why deal with all the trouble of changing it?? Does she want you to change it? I would just keep what you are doing and if she gets mad too bad! your wedding is already planned around the color! good luck hun i hope it works out!

I had that same situation with my sister... She got engaged 3 months before I did (her FH waited forever to propose) She always talked about a winter/christmas wedding with the red/scarlet color dress and I always talked about a fall wedding with burgundy or maybe a burnt orange color. Well I talk about the fall wedding so much, my sister decided to have her wedding in the fall and now I have to wait a whole year to get married. By the way her dress are --- you guessed it WINE!!!!! So now I have to go find myself a new color. I'm so mad

I would be pretty bummed, but just think of it this way - you will have a lot of different guests than her and the people who are the same guests probably won't think anything of it. Feel better!

I would prob be disappointed but I dont think Id argue over it.......In the end your wedding day should be the best day of your life....and after all the planning its not the cake or bm dresses or flowers that are going to make the memories but the smiles the love and the laughter

I would definitely be pissed! No one wants their wedding to be identical to someone elses! Especially since it's so close and you most likely will be having similar guests....that *****!

I can understand. My SIL duplicated my entire wedding plans right down to the first dance song, wedding cake, and cps. However, I got over it and I've made alot of changes and love them better. People are going to remember your wedding for you and now you will get a better idea of what will go and not go. So look at it like you have someone to make decisions with kinda, if you know what I mean.
