Am I wrong to be mad?

Am I wrong to be mad?

So, 11 of my girlfriends and I are going to Vegas for my Bachelorette Party. I told them the money is due Friday. They have known this for a few months and I sent them an e-mail reminder every every other month.

Now, one of my BM's sends me a message on facebook telling me that she can't swing the money right now. I completely understand that, but what makes me mad is that her next sentence is that she wants me to join with her a 10 week body shaping class with her that is like $200.00.

Sooooo.....You don't have the money for Vegas, but you have the money for this body shaping class that I know you are never going to go to. She has been my friend since the 5th grade, and I love her to death, but she is a flake and I know she won't go to these classes. Why not just go to the gym?!

Oh vey! There's my vent. Thanks for listening, Now I'm off to the gym. Have a nice weekend ladies.

WOW, I'd have a really hard time not being seriously pissed about that! I can understand things changing and not having the money for the trip . . . but to then mention a class that certainly doesn't sound like 'necessity'? That just really doesn't make sense. I think you have every right to be mad.

P.S. It's awesome that that many of your friends are able to afford a trip to Vegas! I know the majority of mine can't so I didn't even suggest it. Have a great time!

Re: Am I wrong to be mad?

well i have to be honest, it depends.

although some people think going to vegas is fine for a bachelorette, other people might consider it over the top and i know that you said you understand that money might be an issue but the things is for someone who thinks that Vegas is over the top, what she really might mean is, i dont have that much extra money to spend on a bachelorette party when i have my own needs but i dont want to hurt your feelings or fight over your choice. i know that it might not seem like a 'necessity' but regardless if its necessary or not, i dont think one can fault another for wanting to spend money on themselves rather than on a bachelorette party which they dont agree with. yes, shes a bm and she knows that there is a financial responsibility that comes along with that but obviously the trip is more than a regular night out or even an overnight party (which i would say she definately has a responibilty to attend and have the money for)

the reason i said, it depends is because if she is the type to always flake out on stuff or constantly putting herself first, then i could completely understand your anger and i would DEFINATELY be angry too cuz its just one more thing added to the list...i have a friend like that. on the other hand, i have friends who are usually always there for me and dont flake out so if they said they couldnt afford a trip to Vegas but i saw them spending money on themself, i would accept it.

I wouldn't be mad, its not like going to Vegas only costs $200.

If the cost was the same, I might be annoyed, but you can't be mad at someone for not being able to swing an expensive trip on top of other expensive associated with being a BM.

i agree about the cost situation.... but a week before the money is due isnt the time to say she cant swing it... that would bother me more than asking if you want to take a class with her

When I invite ppl who always flake out to stuff I just assume that their not going to come through, even if they say they will. This way theres no hard feelings....cant be disappointed. Ppl want to be apart of YOUR wedding, but when it all said & done its not THEIR priority.

You can be upset, but dont let it take away from your fun.
