American Idol

Re: American Idol

I have to agree...that neither of them are 'pop stars'...neither of them got me excited...I really don't care who wins...

It really bothers me when the judges didn't call Ruben on his problems...I am in no way a music expert...but come on...I would turn the radio off if I heard most of the songs last night come on!

And yes, I think Clay puts out a 'faggy' image no matter what his relationship with his mother is. He totally and completely turns me off. But then again I'm not a teenage girl, and perhaps not the target market.

Yes Stef, Ruben is obese, and I guarantee you if he won, they'd put him through the wringer and make him over...maybe ala Luther Vandross (poor Luther )...thinner, suave and velvet all the way. No matter what his weight, though, he is the more natural talent. Clay has too many affectations in his style, and is better suited to Broadway.

to each his own!

Re: American Idol

It's really amazing how opposite Clay and Reuben are, could they be any different looking??

I think the competition is much better this year. They're both very talented, even if they don't have the 'idol' look, I think they both deserve to win. Justin wasn't nearly as talented as Kelly, and I don't think he deserved to be in the top 2.

I want them to win back Frenchie!!

Did anyone hear what Clay said at the end last night? He said something like 'If its in Gods plan for me to win, then great...but if its in Gods plan for Reuben to win, then that is his decision'.

I found that hysterical. Not quite as gracious as they were a few weeks ago were they?

Edited to add: I really dont think GOD cares who wins American Idol and i find it funny whenever anyone says something like that.

Ha! Stef, I also thought that was the funniest quote. If god plans for ruben to win, that's not great? Hmm..

Another thing, am I the only one who thinks Ruben has gained like 50 pounds since the initial audition? Yikes!

Re: American Idol

Stef, I don't think I could agree with you more about everything you said, if I had said it myself!

Ruben is so unhealthy, he couldn't even breathe at the end of one of the songs, and he was completely off key a couple of times, and did not blow me away with anything he did. I thought Imagine was terribly done. These judges, after a certain point, are paid to NOT say anything, so as not to influence voting. They are paid to play their roles, period. After they get who they want in the competition, Randy plays the dude, Paula plays the cute little sweet cheerleader (which was her profession to BEGIN with) and Simon the ******* he's supposed to be.

And that God thing, it's just like the Grammys, Oscars, Emmys.....'We'd like to thank the Lord God for giving us this honor!'. Lets see, floods in the midwest, tornados in the south, hurricanes in Florida...no wait!! I have to give Destiny's Child a GRAMMY!!!

'I have to give Destiny's Child a GRAMMY!!!'

ahahhahahahha

They say Reuben has lost 10 lbs since the competition has started. NOt sure if that is true but his first outfit last night made him look even more like the michelan man!

LOST 10 lbs? Yikes, if that's what losing weight looks like, let me stay fat. I actually read in newsweek that he weighs 350, and I really thought he was more, so maybe I'm just a really bad judge of weight. Maybe it's the clothes.

Re: American Idol

I think the fact that they make the darn show last so longggggg when it could be done in 1/2 the time is part of the problem. I get bored with all the coke ads, cell phone ads (legally blonde rip-off ads), and group sing alongs!
Last night I really like Rueben's last song- I had never heard of the song but the words were beautiful. And heck, if I had a gospell choir behind me even I could sound good!

I cannot wait to make fun of the stage mom/dads on Jr. Idol. I am just going to watch the auditions so we can all trash the moms who think their kids are the best!

I think Jr. Idol will be funny. Stage moms are all insane!

Re: American Idol

Michele...I agree with the length of time...and tonight is 2 hours!!! WHAT are they going to do in 2 HOURS!!!

I did think that ruben looked bad in the white outfit (and sounded bad)...but the first outfit...DH noticed that he tucked his shirt in...DH is 100+ pounds less...but hates to tuck is shirt in...lol so maybe the white outfit was just unflattering...and don't they say that the camera adds 10 pounds

Re: American Idol

I was surprised that last nights episode had so little of the usual barrage of crappy ads disguised as entertainment during the show. Very happy that it was absent but with 2 hours tonight, Im sure they will more than make up for it.

Im really glad they changed the format of the show from last year. Last year Kelly and Justin had to sing those 2 aweful songs and they both ****ed. At least we got to hear some good music this time.

its 2 hours tonight

they're probably going to have the top 10 back to sing the same songs they sing asa group - AGAIN

I think the Jr copetition will be fun to watch. Will Simon be there too?

Re: American Idol

Personally, I love Clay. I don't care if people think he looks gay - that doesn't matter to me - I just love his voice. Last night, his last song was AWESOME.

I like Rueben too, but lately he just has not blown me away. He looks scared - like a deer caught in the headlights - it makes me feel bad for him.

But whoever wins - it was an entertaining show - though I thought the first American Idol had more talent.

They are both winners in my eyes. I respect them both and hope they both get record deals.

CLAY IS GOING TO WIN- NO QUESTION.

I am a big Reuben fan, but he has NOT been at his best lately.

Re: American Idol

I started the season a huge Ruben fan. The past few weeks I have switched to Clay. IMO he has a MUCH better voice, wider range, and can sing different types of songs very well. He could definitely be on Broadway, but he also could be a pop star. He's being compared to Barry Manilow and some other stars like that.

Ruben has a great voice, but it always sounds the same. Of course he'll get some sort of record contract if he loses, and he deserves to get a record deal, but all the songs will be so similar.

Am I the only one that thinks that it's great that neither of the two finalists fit the 'American Idol' image??? That means that the ones with the best voices really are the ones voted for. If Americans voted just for image than Kimberly Caldwell would have won. She's the most like the current pop stars.
