American Jr- whose daughter can look like a tramp?
OMG. What is wrong with these parents. I love how they sing along with their kids too. You know that being famous is their dreams so they are now forcing their kids to live their dreams instead of having any of their own. How about when that one mother made her poor daughter sing for the cameras outside after she wasn't picked- even though she was almost crying. It was awful.

I was completely turned off by the little girl with her stomach hanging out, with the feather boa around her neck. I don't have kids, but I would NEVER let my little girl out of the house looking like that, much less get on national tv in that getup. What's worse is that the mother was primping her hair so she'd look perfect. What ever happened to a little modesty? IT makes me sick to think that these parents are pushing their kids so hard to get into such a superficial industry. ugh..

I saw that Mom too, she was a nutjob. The poor kid was almost in tears. She had a nice voice , but I'm sure the producers did not pick her because of her 'look'.

All I can think of is 'Do you want grown men looking at your daughter in THAT way?' total freaks. And the Moms are never attractive either. They live thru their kids and it is soooo sad. If you want to see a wonderful investigative piece on this issue Undercover America did a documentary on a little girl named Swan- yes Swan- whose mother forces her into beauty pagents and OMG you should see the pressure on the poor thing and how she looks like a hooker 90% of the time. And when her tooth was falling out her mom told her it COULDN'T until after the show or else she would lose. And she hired trainers to help her daughter win and they told this 5 year old to FLIRT with the judges!!! Flirt with adult men!!!!

Stage Mothers/Fathers should not be able to get away with what they get away with. Nothing like living vicariously through your child - without regard for what your child wants or needs. The whole thing makes me sick.
I'm so glad my mother didn't get involved when I danced ballet...some of the other mothers were downright disgusting - the way they bully the other children 'getting in the way' of their child's 'stardom'. Ugh.

I watched that last night too. A lot of the parents even admited on camera that it was their dream and it didn't happen for them, so now it was their kids turn. Some of the parents even sang for the camera - hello it is American JUNIOR!!!!

Nothing like instilling the American value of beauty and bare flesh on children who can barely read yet. It's called freedom, ain't it grand? So sickening to see children primped up that way. Did anyone see the Oprah a few weeks ago with the mom and uncle who photograph the daughter in outfits that men send her and put the pics on the internet? The FBI should get a hold of them. Oprah was like, do you realize this is like child pornography? And they claimed they do a background check on all 15,000 people who look at the site. Oprah was like, I have a hard enough time with background checks for my three assistants! Ew. So aggravated.

I didnt watch it
I have seen all the commercials for it and it just turned me off. I saw the one with the mother who was complaining that her daughter has talent and they picked some girl who goes wah wah wah.
Then the father complaining that some other kid got picked and not his.
I just got so turned off from the commercials I didnt watch the show

I personally find it very disturbing to see parents trying to live their unfifilled dreams through their kids!
I didn't watch the show, but I saw the coming attractions when they showed the woman in a mini van telling her kid in teh back seat 'this is your chance, do it, do it!' The kid obviously panicked under the ridiculous pressure and a cameraman in his face and she then said 'Well, you lost it - you lost your chance'. Unreal.

Teri: I was watching a special on beauty pagents and these girls have been doing them since they are months old.
The mothers push them and push them and push them. Their was a 6 year old that had on about 10 pounds of make up, hair as tall as the kid, smiles from ear to ear and she hated all of it. The mother was so mean and was yelling at her because she wasnt getting her tap talent performance in order. The girl was crying. She didnt want to do it. The mother had her entered in every state beauty pagent, traveling, dance lessons, finishing schools and basically her whole future planned and all this little girl wanted to do was play in the yard.
I feel bad for kids, they dont want to do something I feel they shouldnt. I dont like when parents push them like that.

no doubt those kids that are pushed over the edge will have some issues to deal with later on....it's like that with so many aspects of childhood though lately....sports games, anything of a competitive nature. I wasn't pushed at all when I was little - I was able to play in the dirt with my barbies and loved every minute of it
These life choices should be made when they're older, so they have more of a say in what they actually WANT to do! Easier said than done I guess - no kids yet for me!
