Amex Points...help!

My FMIL and FFIL have been sweet enough to give us miles for our honeymoon. The problem is...nobody is giving us a straight answer with whether or not we can use them. We have called 3 different times and everyone gives us a different answer.
Has anyone used a relative's miles to fly? If so, can you explain what the procedure is?

I THINK you can.. I'm 99 percent positive I had a friend who used his father's frequent flyer miles.

You just have to get purchase tickets from theiraccount. I have used my dad's amex Delta miles before. I just went on his account and booked my ticket!!!

Yup i second you can do this, just book on their account and they can take the points off that way.

I third that. FH and I use my AMEX points all the time for air travel.

I'm positive you can! I was a high-level Executive Assistant to CEO's who had millions of points (literally) and they would use them to pay for their kids, girlfriends, etc.) flights all the time! You can do it online if you're logged into their account OR you can call up their Travel Services and do it that way, but the card member has to be with you. They won't let you do it alone. The card member has to give the verbal 'okay' and some qualifying information for you to do it, unless you're an authorized person on both their account and Travel Services (two different departments). I was always an authorized user so I didn't need to bother my bosses everytime I made travel plans for them using their points. If they try and give you any static ask for a manager right away.

Plus, not to mention that I just booked my HM flights for both my FH & I using my points on both my Amex accounts and the Citibank ThankYou Network points. Everyone lets you use them for other ppl and I did it online. You can FM me if you have any other questions.
