DH and I are going to be yentas and drive by the house later. It is probably full of other yentas like us looking for the house.

Re: amityville house
You can't pull people over for driving on a street to look at a house though.....Tom and i drive around all the time to look at houses..... Unless they are doing something illegal while looking at the house - I can't see how they can get in trouble for doing it.

Re: amityville house
There used to be scary windows on near the top of the house that looked like eyes house when the haunting took place in the 70's. My fiance and I drove past The house a few years ago after watching the original movie. The house is actually really nice and not creepy looking at all.

Re: amityville house
My brother and stepfather actually went up and knocked on the door years ago to talk to the people who lived there. The woman who opened the door said that she would answer any questions they had because they knocked and asked so politely instead of driving by 100 times and just gawking. She was very pleasant with them although I am not sure what she told them.

Re: amityville house
My boss just bought a house on that street about 6 months ago and she lives about 6 houses down. I just talked to her and she said that tons of people have turned around in her driveway already. There's a cop posted on the street with one of those how fast are you going things on the back of his car. Plus if you stop they come up and tell you to keep moving. I'd be annoyed if I lived anywhere near them.

We just came home. No police cars were there, but other cars were slowly driving by.

Julz...Would you want people driving by your house at all times of the day and night and also pulling into your drive way to get a better look at a house that doesnt look anything like it used to?? I think it is kind of ridiculous to drive over there just to see the house and I am sure you wouldnt appreciate it if you were one of the neighbors.
No, I wouln't. But then again I wouldn't buy that house. I don't think it is right for the police to pull people over for driving on a PUBLIC street.

See - that would piss me off - strangers coming up and knocking on my door!

i have no shame, i would drive by the house. my aunt lived near OJ during his trial and there were bus tours, helicopters, cars....the whole thing. guess what she did?? she moved! people who chose to stay dealt with the publicity, samething with amityville. like julz said, it is not illegal. you cannot stop yentas/curious ppl from driving past.

We weren't rude. We just drove by the house like any other driver going down ocean Avenue. No biggie. I certainly wouldn't knock on the door.
