Tomorrow FH and I start looking at RHs ... So far we have appointments with:
Fox Hollow Country Club Crest Hollow Country Club Woodbury Country Club Coral House Riviera Westbury Manor Thatched Cottage
One thing I have found from talking to awesome brides on here is that perhaps booking in November will save $$ and since we are on a budget, we've found that that is true. When booking an appointment with Woodbury Country Club ... a quick pricing of the first week in November was $15 a plate less ... so it's looking more and more like we're getting married in November
I would love to hear from you all if you've been to these RHs and what you though of them.
Any place else that we should look that is affordable?
We are so excited!!

Re: And it begins!!
I think it all depends on what you're looking for in a reception hall, for us we had certain things we wanted that helped us narrow down ones to look at and then compare prices, we looked at about 10 RH's before booking Giorgios. Yes November will definitely be cheaper so if you're OK with November I say definitely go for it, you will get a lot more for your money. good luck!!!!

Good luck and have so much fun!!!
We fell in love with Crest Hollow immediately. Online, it was FH's favorite and then when we were there it was even more amazing. I also think you get the most for your money per plate. And in Nov, it'll definitely be super affordable. I'd ask about Fri night weddings, if that's what you'd want.

Re: And it begins!!
From your list, we checked out the Fox Hollow and Riviera. Before we actually went to the Riviera we thought it would be the place, since it's a convenient location for FH and I, and we loved that it was on the water. Unfortunately when we went there, FH hated the lady we met with. He said he refused to get married there if we had to work with her..lol.
Fox Hollow is where we ultimately booked. We weren't even going to look at the Fox Hollow (since we wanted 1 wedding at a time), but the second we walked in we knew it was 'the place'. We're getting married in the Somerly Room, and we were surprised how reasonable the price was. You should definitely check it out.
My sister and brother-in-law got married at the Thatched Cottage. It was gorgeous, and the people there were super nice and easy to deal with.
Happy RH Hunting!!

Re: And it begins!!
have fun!
your right nov is alil more affordable then say sept/oct the only reason we were able to afford early oct was b/c we are getting married on sunday (columbus day weekend so everyone has off that monday) there was a big difference in price cause of that
make sure you get EVERYTHING in writing tho. every little thing that they say get it in writing these BM's seem to forget alot of little things.
but have fun!!!!!!!

Re: And it begins!!
This is exactly why I chose Nov. We were engaged in Sept and originally I wanted a sept/oct wedding. When I saw how much the price dropped going with Nov I booked on the spot. Nov 3rd...so close to Oct! LOL
BTW last year I had my engagement party mid nov and I was outside in a strapless and fine.
Good luck!

Re: And it begins!!
out of the RHs you have listed, we visited Woodbury country club, riviera, and westbury manor. anything below is just based on personal preference
WCC was really nice and nice grounds but we started realizing early in the process that we really wanted a place with only 1 wedding at a time. also I know it's minor but we didn't like the bridal suite for the downstairs ballroom (I think it was the downstairs one)
I've been to Westbury manor for events before and I knew the food was good and really liked the gardens but we didn't like the CH set up in 3 different places or that multiple events could be held plus anyone there for the restaurant. plus we would have been pushing the limits of the room with our 200 guests.
Riviera was way too small for us, it's definitely ideal for a smaller wedding because i wouldnt want guests to have to sit in that little wing off to the side and you have to factor in dj/band on the dance floor or on the balcony. it does have a nice rustic feel to it and it's on the water.

I went to a wedding at Crest Hollow a few years ago and it was very nice.
It's 100% true though you definitely will save money if you book in November.

Re: And it begins!!
Congrats and best of luck! You will find something that you love, and I think that November is definitely cheaper. One thing I suggest is to wait them out a little bit and negotiate with them, they want your business as much as you want them!
