And now, justification for my flip out! (updated)

And now, justification for my flip out! (updated)

We hadn't heard anything from our first hotel in a bit. Our MOH called to reserve a room, and not only is our block full, but the hotel is sold out! And they hadn't called to tell us whether our block was full or if the hotel was filling up!

The best part: our invites haven't even GONE OUT YET!!!
-------------------------------------------------
Hey fellow 07ers,

you may have noticed I've been on a lot less. It's because FW and I have a lot going on (she's finishing up the school year, I may be switching jobs as early as next week, we're trying to find an apartment).

Yesterday and today, i'm starting to flip out a little bit about wedding stuff... questions from 'is the bachelor party too long?' to 'will our events be too much?' to 'did we invite too many/not enough people to the wedding' to 'is it starting at the right time?' to 'should we have afterparties/brunches' and it's starting to get to me.

Between FW and I, I'm more of the social creature and wondering if we're providing too much/not enough to do, are we being too difficult on people?

someone tell me to be cool, it's all gonna be great.

thanks.

It will be as cool as milk.

remember this-- people love a good party.. and if youre accomodating them with an after party, and bruch etc etc, those who love a good party will be there and be happy =))

Sometimes this site can be your own worst enemy. The ideas that flow are great, but can really make you second guess everything!

Stop second-guessing yourself. It will be FINE!!!

Re: random sketchout (vent)

Whenever I'm totally stressed out I try to tell myself that I've been there before and I will get through it this time just like I've done so in the past. I do that a lot when I am taking grad courses that I think I will never be able to complete the final project or paper and I have been telling myself the same thing in terms of the wedding.

You and your FW will get everything done that needs to be done. Somehow, in our wedding nature, everything will get done- even if it's at the last minute.

Try not to stress too much! We're here for ya!

With everything going on and all the changes, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. Step back, take a deep breath. It'll be okay.

Remember that there have been other times in your life where you've felt overwhelmed and you've overcome them.

Re: random sketchout (vent)

we had a huge rehearsal dinner (my MIL is a bit of an entertaining nut) the night before our 11am wedding, then the wedding and reception, and we capped it all off with a big after party.
People who wanted to hang out for everything did and those he didn't want to stick around for, say the after party, didn't.
It is all up to what you both want and then let everyone else decide how they want to celebrate with you...
So, chill out

I think providing people with more to do is the way to go. I'd rather be able to skip stuff than wishing we had something to do. We did a Welcome Dinner for about 50 people the night before our wedding & then went to a friends beach house afterwards to play drinking games all night. ( I kicked a$$ in flip cup btw ) Then for 3 hours after the wedding we had a beach bonfire and people still wanted to come back to the beach house to party some more ! Our families went out to breakfast themselves but I know we could've gotten a big group if we decided to host that too ! Don't worry about the wedding.....people will have a great time !

Be cool. It's going to be great! Really, don't sweat it. People love weddings. Everyone including you and FW will have a great time and make memories to last a lifetime. Enjoy. You only do this once.

Re: random sketchout (vent)

hey,

don't worry too much.... I know it's said over and over again, but it really IS your day. The only other person you must take into account is FW. You've thought carefully about everything, so I'm sure your plan is reasonable.

As for the after parties, and rehearsal dinners, whatever you do, just make sure there's a way to escape if you and FW are tired.... that was the strenuous part for us. Our OOT'ers liked all the extra parties.... it gave them something to do.

We were in a similar situation. Both of us had mega-deadlines at work in may, several major dental procedures and their bills, AND had a final 3 weeks before the big day (yep, I've been pretty much continuously taking classes since 1990 , despite being faculty now...)

It makes you really frazzled. Try to strip out anything superfluous in your schedule, and make a list of only the essentials. Let FW hibernate until exams are over, and you deal with the job and apartment thing. Ignore wedding stuff. You can deal with that in 2-3 weeks again...

It'll be fine!

Don't stress!! All of your family and friends are going to love your soiree regardless of whether you have an after party or brunch. Just sit down with FW and talk about what you guys want. Then follow accordingly!! Your people love you and love what you offer them!!

The one thing that my mom keeps telling me when I stress out about these things is 'stop worrying about everyone else.' It's nice to think of them, but you have to take care of yourself first. Think of how many weddings you have gone to and you've managed to make it through - your bridal party and guest will too!

Good luck!
