And now, justification for my flip out! (updated)

Original post by stealthgroom

We hadn't heard anything from our first hotel in a bit. Our MOH called to reserve a room, and not only is our block full, but the hotel is sold out! And they hadn't called to tell us whether our block was full or if the hotel was filling up!

The best part: our invites haven't even GONE OUT YET!!!

Hey fellow 07ers,

you may have noticed I've been on a lot less. It's because FW and I have a lot going on (she's finishing up the school year, I may be switching jobs as early as next week, we're trying to find an apartment).

Yesterday and today, i'm starting to flip out a little bit about wedding stuff... questions from 'is the bachelor party too long?' to 'will our events be too much?' to 'did we invite too many/not enough people to the wedding' to 'is it starting at the right time?' to 'should we have afterparties/brunches' and it's starting to get to me.

Between FW and I, I'm more of the social creature and wondering if we're providing too much/not enough to do, are we being too difficult on people?

someone tell me to be cool, it's all gonna be great.

thanks.

Oh no!
Can they suggest another local hotel for the rest of your guests?
Sorry.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

The EXACT thing happened to me!!! I flipped out too.

BE COOL; there is a solution. Call the manager & find out if there are other weddings blocking rooms. If so, 30 days before your wedding, any rooms not booked in their blocks will be released. Tell them you want those rooms, that they are NOT to be made public. You'd be amazed how many weddings say 'I need 20 rooms!' and then they use 5. We were able to get all our guests rooms in the final 2 weeks with rooms released from other blocks.

That's a really great idea! Thanks for that. I found out what happened... the person working with us got promoted and a new person took over.

I was also able to get 5 more rooms released, 3 of which promptly got reserved by my best man and our two officiants (who are also close friends).

we've blocked a second hotel (phew!), so it's not the worst thing in the world after all. but it's still pretty crazy that the place is sold out.

First, hang in there! Don't stress so much...it all comes together (so I hear )

Anyway, if you are stuck with your hotel situation, try Long Island Visitors bureau. www.discoverlongisland.com

I emailed them and within 24 hours I had like 10 different hotels sending me quotes for blocks. The visitor's bureau was very helpful. I highly recommend it.

Good luck and chill!
