My salon told me not to get anything higher than 3.5 inches due to the way they measured me (Hollow to hem or whatever). My dress is in but I have not tried it on yet. I bought shoes that are a little over 3.5 inches. Got them online and the description said 3.5. They are a little higher. Do you think I can get away with a slightly higher heel than what I was told to get? I have a ball gown and am wearing a crinoline and the very very very last thing I want to happen is for the front of the dress to flare up. Is that what can happen with too high of a heel? ANYONE?

Re: And speaking of shoes.....
I think you should follow your salon's directions. You can wait until it comes in and try it on wiht the shoes if the store's return policy for the shoes will allow it .. but I would buy a back up pair that is less than 3.5 inches if that is what they said. That is very TALL anyhow! I don't know how tall you are, or how often you wear heels that high - but that sounds very tall and uncomfortable to me. Good luck!

I'm 5 feet tall and am very comfortable in shoes that high. Now I'm nervous! Couldn't you just lie and make me feel better????

It may or may not be okay, kind of depends how big the crinoline is and how much it poufs up the dress....you'll probably just have to try it and see! But I agree, I would get a back-up pair just in case!

If they are too high you can always take them to a shoe repair place and have them cut hte heel a bit. I've seen it done before and it looks fine.
