OK so now I check out the Hamlet in Commack, just to make sure the Woodlands is 100 percent definitely the place and I want it to be. And now.... of course.... I am confused. Its really beautiful at the Hamlet!!!! It's totally the opposite end of the spectrum.. Hamlet- new... Woodland- old... but oh so pretty! And to top it off, they will take my 100 minimum guarentee for a Friday or Sunday night in May, which is originally when we wanted to get married. When the Woodlands will only do a Thursday. Oh the agony.....

Well, the gut feeling was the Woodlands, but now... a Friday or Sunday is so much better. The problem is really the church. I spoke to one church and they said they don't do Thursdays and the other said only after 5. But they'll all do Friday. I think what I need to do is go see them both again. And we need to go over the menus of course. When we first got engaged we were thinking of doing this in 07... I'm glad we decided to wait. I didn't really think it would be this hard.

is the Hamlet the golf course? I was thinking of looking there. If you don't mind me asking, how much did they quote you? ps-you're going to find that you really like a lot of places you look at, that's why we haven't chosen a hall yet!

Honestly, we've looked at 12 places so far. I'm veryyyy picky. Like I said I want an evening and with 100 person guarentee won't speak to us. So the decision is going to be made this weekend. The Hamlet was asking 120 pp plus 20 % and tax of course. You also need to pay 250 extra for a 'club' membership since the clubhouse is in a gated community. Its good for a year and you could go and use their restaurant facilities after the wedding. It was really pretty. You should definitely go see it.

Yeah... I think I'm gonna do that. Do they really negotiate?? And to make matters worse, my parents are coming to see both halls with me. Parents just hadda get involved!

i havent been to the hamlet, but i did go see the woodlands... this is just my opinion but the woodlands didnt impress me it is def onthe older side and I didn't like how people are playing golf right outside the reception room doors.
BUT you have to pick what you like and what is going to work into your budget and with your church.

I thin kyou should def use what you found out from the Hamlet against the Woodlands, if it is ment to be and they want your business, they will bend the rules believe me....we bargined for many things at our RH

I agree that you should use the proposal from the Hamlet to bargain with the Woodlands. And go with your gut. You don't want to second-guess yourself for the next year and a half as you plan your wedding.
If it were me, though, and after I tried bargaining it came down to: one I loved and could afford and had to be on a Thursday; and one I loved and could afford and could be on a Friday or Saturday... I'd take the Friday/Saturday in a second.

Sure... I'll FM you. I didn't look at Leonards, but went to Westbury Manor. I didn't see the room in Westbury Manor because we got there too late, and I didn't go back because it wasn't for me. But I heard nothing but nice things about it.
