And the Venue debacle continues.....
I meant to post this here, but posted it on BHB too. OopsOk, so figure this. 12 venues we have seen so far. As of yesterday 7 pm none of them were 'the one.' As of 6pm tonight, 2 of them are 'the one.' go figure!
So let me fill you in...the candidates are....
Westbury Manor & Bridgeview Yacht Club
I know what you're thinking, they are totally different. Tell me about it.
This is where you ladies come in- I need help narrowing it down. Here are the pros & cons: (there are probably more just haven't put them all down on paper )
Westbury Manor- works in budget, a lot more food & add ons included, seemed more willing to work with us, really liked the banquet manager, loved the grounds, doesn't fit my nautical vision so I would need a whole knew theme/feel, not one wedding at a time, FH really likes
Bridgeview- a bit cheaper, less food the WM, totally fits my vision of nautical/on the water, didn;t particularly like the banquet manager, one wedding at a time, I can choose start time, FH hasn't seen it yet (he's seeing it Saturday)
So basically what it comes down to is had I not seen Bridgeview I probably would have given up on nautical, suc*ed it up found a new 'vision' and called it a day. Now just when I am about to move on I see Bridgeview and my dream vision comes back.
Do I go with the better package & more for our money or the view and my vision of a nautical wedding with less for the money. Am I going to regret not doing nautical? (My mom says once I find a new theme I'll be obsessed with it like I am nautical, which is probably true! haha)
(I am literally losing sleep over this venue process, I HATE IT! I don't know how FH is even dealing with me anymore )
PS- I swear I am not crazy!

Re: And the Venue debacle continues.....
From the way you described it, it honestly seems like you like WM better. I understand not wanting to give up a theme, but it's also not going to be good if you go with Bridgeview and then on your wedding day start saying 'Oh I wish I had that menu' or 'I wish I had the grounds for pictures'What was it about the nautical theme you liked so much? There are some pretty creative brides on here. Maybe we can help you think of a new theme

I've been to a wedding at westbury manor and it was amazing. I've never been to BYC, but maybe your mom Is right about your vision. It also seems like the pros outweigh the cons at WM but not so much for BYC.

I just loved the water, the summer, sand, anchors, boat shoes, etc. My idea is if we do WM, peacock theme. Since they have peacocks on the property, I think I could play up the colors & not have feathers everywhere & make it romantic at the same time.
You may be right with what you said. You ladies 'get it.' everyone else thinks im effin nuts! haha
FH Said to me :get off LIWeddings and stop thinking about this so you can actually sleep tonight.' haha

Oh I had a thought! Did you do e-pics yet? You could always do those on the beach to get the water in for you. Also, if you're not having your ceremony at the RH, you can try and go to a beach or lake or some body of water for pictures between ceremony and reception. Also, if this is something you're interested in, a lot of girls who do trash the dress sessions do it on the beach.PS - I love all of the colors in the peacock theme! You do have plenty of time to think of another theme or it might just come to you naturally the more you plan and the more details you start to focus on. HTH!

My venue is 'on the water' but we won't have a waterview for our ceremony or the reception and I'm still going to do a nautical theme!I'm planning to do e-photos on the beach and do some photos on the beach the day of the wedding.
I say you can do a nautical theme at either if you really want :)

Sounds like you really love WM.Question: Why can't you do the nautical theme at WM? Is it just because its not waterfront?
Now quick! Close your eyes and where do you see yourself on your wedding day?!

I know you had a vision of a nautical theme, but it seems like you fell in love with WM, even though it doesn't fit the theme. To me, that says that while you were in love with your theme, it's more important to you to have other things (you're happy with the BM, more bang for the buck, and both you and your FH are happy with the venue) than to stick with this theme.I love the peacock theme, and think you could do a lot with that without it being so 'peacock-y' (I just invented that word
. It can be extremely romantic and fantastical (also just made that up), and you can incorporate nautical theme into so many other aspects (bridal shower, e-pics, trash the dress).I know this may not seem like such a big con right now, but my opinion is that liking the BM is extremely important too. Not only are you going to book with that person, but you are also going to be working closely with them. If you weren't so thrilled with the BM at BYC, do you think he is going to go above and beyond to make sure your day is absolutely perfect?
I have a friend who got married at WM, and spoke to her tonight. She said that she couldn't have had a more wonderful experience, and didn't even notice that there was more than one event going on during her wedding. Any specific questions, let me know, I'll ask her and let you know

To be honest it would be too out of place. I wouldn't even consider it. It would be like having a country barn wedding in Jamaica lol

I agree with you about the BM. I feel like its very important to get good vibes from them. I feel like we are leaning towards WM but I still need to sort my brain out haha. Also I know WM does a great wedding & events. I don't know anyone who has been unhappy there so that has a large impact.

I have never been to BYC, but my sister had her wedding at WM a few years ago and it was fabulous! I cannot say one negative thing about the place! And the peacocks walking around we're awesome, so I like that theme!

Have you tried negotiating with BYC? Maybe you can tell them about your situation and they can try and meet the price/package from WM.

I love Westbury Manor so I would def say there! I think the peacock theme is super cute and since you are getting married in June the colors will be perfectly vibrant!

I can understand how you feel about not wanting to do the nautical theme at WM. I love the peacock theme because I loooove the colors!
I love the idea of doing engagement photos, wedding day photos and even trash the dress photos on a beach. It's like having 2 themes for your wedding, but not going overboard with it!
