What, wait until we have 2 kids and a house/taxes to pay for? Right now we're living with my parents and have no major expenses.
Then she and FH go on and on about how great Costa Rica is..because a friend of FH's just went there and had a great time. I really have no interest in CR.
Anyway, once FMIL says something..FH listens.
Where else can I go in September that doesn't have many hurricanes and isn't Costa Rica or Hawaii?

HA! That's what people say to FH and I when we say 'Turkey or Morocco'!! My rule, the HM has to be outside of the US (b/c I have never been) and CAN'T be something we can do on a long weekend. It's my HM and I KNOW there will be more expenses later that will prevent a big trip...I also want exotic and cultural so I can do the beach and learn as I choose!!
BTW, I heard Thailand I beautiful! That was on my list too- just be mindful of the laws there and read travel advisories. I know a 50 yr old school teacher who travels alone in summers to Thailand, China, Japan, India...etc and she's always been fine!! ppl can be so ignorant!!

Oh, and not to bring the mood down but honestly, take the big trip now if you can while you both have your health...life has taught me, you never know what will happen! As long as you won't hurt your finances do it!!
