My fiancee and I are getting marrried in December 2004. We have visited about 13 places and have narrowed our choices down to three. We like John Anthony's, the Fox Hollow and the North Ritz. Our wedding size is going to be about 150. Any comments, experiences, suggestions would be appreciated!

Re: AND THEN THERE WERE THREE....
I had my e-party at the Fox Hollow and I thought that everything over all was exceptional.. if you don't mind having the more than one party at a time thing, then go for it.. they are reasonable..
NRC, never been to a party there, but have heard nothing but AMAZING things from people. moreso since they redid it.. def check it out..
JA's really nice place, if you get a good day, the views are really beautiful.. the only thing I didn't like was the fact that there is more than one party at a time, but that you can see the other wedding.. it takes away from your own IMO.. also, apparently there had been another party there before so all the tables had been pushed up to the side and screens were put up to block it and yet you could still see what was behind there.. Also, we had to walk through someone's cocktail hour to get to the upstairs room.. (if you took the stairs)
I must say however, that the food was out of this world.. it was by far, the best I've tasted..

MarcellaBella - you're right about seeing the other wedding when you walk in-- but the stairs are outside of the cocktail lounge so you dont really walk into it unless you take the elevator which is on the edge of the cocktail lounge. This was a concern for me but overall, the food, views, room, service and price swayed me to choose JAs.
Oh did I say food is what I liked about JA's?!!
You have to priortize when choosing a reception place unless money is no object! For us it was good food, water view, price, separate cocktail area.
Edited to say- went to a wedding at Grand Prospect Hall and that place is beautiful! Love the staircase!

Re: AND THEN THERE WERE THREE....
I looked at all 3 of these places Fox Hollow was crossed off as soon as we walked in. when went we had to wait FOREVER for someone to talk to us. Someone finally comes past the recptionist desk and she says there is someone here who would like to talk about a wedding (mind you we were sitting right there) He gets all huffy and puffy and rolls his EYES....This was the General banquet manager.Frank I think his name was. It was during the day and they had some kind of Corporate party going on in the room to the right. (winter garden I think) they said u can peek in ?!?!? someone elses party was going on... then we are getting married on a saturday night they said for a saturday night the only room we could have was the briar fox wich is the little tiny room downstairs. my friends got married there 4 years ago and had this room for the cocktail hour and had 196 people and the room was TIGHT and that was with out a band and dancing ETC. Not all about that at all. then He didnt even take us outside to see the grounds I couldnt event tell you what they look like cause we never saw them. Then we were about to leave and something came up about Vegas (I want to live there I am like the queen of vegas haha) He says I we have a restuarant in las vegas! I said where and he goes in the Bentian???? thats funny cause there is no hotel called that dont u think he should no where his other propertys are??? JA was very nice actually our second choice FI just didnt like how when you looked outside from one of the rooms if you looked to the right you could see the parking lot. NRC we liked a lot also but it had no grounds. and no windows to look outside in the main room. But it is a one wedding place. good luck and remember no one can decide for you! everyone has a negative and positve things about certain places.

Re: AND THEN THERE WERE THREE....
I've been to weddings at John Anthony's and North Ritz and they were both beautiful. The only problem with North Ritz I would say is the cocktail hr bar was in a different room than the cocktail hour. The main room was gorgeous though. John Anthony's I've been to twice. Both times it was great, only they have more than one party at a time. GOOD LUCK!
