AND YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD IT BAD....

MORE FROM THE @$$HOLE HERE AT WORK:

Loyal Staff,

a few refinements to our new timekeeping policy:

1. Stick to a set schedule.
We offer 3 choices for workday schedules.
Pick one and stick to it:
8:00 -4:30
8:30 -5:00
9:00 -5:30
Chronic tardiness will not be excused by regular make-up time.
If you wish to change your workday schedule, you will
need to clear it with KS so that there is
even distribution among the staff.

2. Allow extra time for Traffic
Traffic excuses will no longer be accepted for chronic tardiness.
Road work, inclement weather, and highway accident frequency are all
reasonably predictable. Allow for extra time in the morning to assure
punctuality.

3. Check in/out by e-mail
For time-keeping records, check in with KS by e-mail 4 times a day:
Arrival, go to lunch, return from lunch, and end of day. Do the same if
you must leave during the day for a personal appointment.
The transmission time that registers on your e-mail will
provide an automatic, reliable timekeeping record. It will not be necessary
to keep your own time cards as well, unless you wish to.

4. Don't turn your computer off tonight.
You will need to leave your computer on when you leave work
tonight so that TD can synchronize personal computer clocks
with the file server. We will make every effort to keep them
synchronized, but the file server's clock will rule.

I understand there has been some grumbling about these changes, but we need
to be more disciplined about timekeeping, and for now, this is the preferred solution.

Thank you,
KM

That is horrible. Do you mind if I ask where you work? I used to live in RI, and I am just curious...

I can't believe you are supposed to be clairvoyent, I would ask for a raise since they are expecting you to be.

Hey Maybe you can add that skill to your resume.

You know what would be ideal - if at least 90% of the workers walked out on their asses for about a week and they had to do all the work themselves. These days companies don't want people - they want androids that can work around the clock!

Just for fun, everytime I did something I'd email them - hey Kim, I just farted! Hey Kim, I'm going to pee right now: Hey Kim, I'm pulling a wedgie out of my butt! Hey kim, I'm going to the fax machine and I'll be standing there approximately 1.2 and one half second! I've never heard such asinine requests at a job! Who the hell is management in this place??!

Seriously that sounds almost like harassment. I would be looking to get out of there ASAP! These people are on ego trips!

I wish you were making this up for our entertainment. What a horrible environment to be subjected to.

Oh don't hate me but I honestly see nothing wrong with that.

Every corporate office I have every worked in required us to work a set work week and they did not except cronic tardiness. Yes you can not predict traffic or train delays but that doesn't happen every day. We always have to check in the morning and when we leave our desks just to make sure the area is covered.

Maybe I just always worked for overbearing firms but I kind of think that is the norm. We don't receive emails that specifically state what yours did but its all done out of job responsibility.

Re: AND YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD IT BAD....

Can anyone say micro-manager?? I'd hate to be this Kim person getting 4 e-mails daily from x-amount of staff!

What's wrong girls? You guys don't have ESP for when a tractor-trailer is going to jack-knife on the LIE or when a suicidal person is threatening to jump off the tri-borough bridge OR some moron truck driver gets on a parkway and gets stuck under and overpass???? Apparently Kate CAN account for a reasonable amount of time for these things!

Sorry sweetie!

ETS: Did you see my post yesterday 'Spinoff to Cell phones in the bathroom'? Find it, I can totally sympathize!

Re: AND YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD IT BAD....

Karen I hear ya, and you are right, every corporate office has thier set standards that everyone should follow and it's a given that excessive tardiness should not be tolerated. However, to send out memos like that is going overboard. I think they should approach specific people who have excessive tardiness than make everyones lives miserable.

I look at situations like that and can't help but seeing it as them taking advantage. I think it's okay to voice issues, but I hate when people talk and treat you like a child. I think if someone has a problem with being on time they should maybe write them up or come up with consequences, but to reprimand everyone is unfair. I'm strong on this topic b/c I've worked in a place like that and one day I walked out b/c it's an unhealthy and toxic environment.

God bless anyone that feels comfortable in an environment like that!

Re: AND YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD IT BAD....

I agree Tracy : ) They shouldn't reprimand everyone for the faults of a few. I think HR does that alot though because they are afraid of lawsuits. Very Unfair!!

Re: AND YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD IT BAD....

look on the bright side, at least they give you the option of a work time. some places say,y ou work these hours---PERIOD!

I think the strict monitoring is rediculous, but I guess people were abusing it.

Gotta love micromanagers...NOT!

Re: AND YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD IT BAD....

My first job out of college was like that, but we had time cards to swipe. We were docked for 15 minutes if we were more than 7 minutes late!!
