AND YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD IT BAD....

Original post by holly231

MORE FROM THE @$$HOLE HERE AT WORK:

Loyal Staff,

a few refinements to our new timekeeping policy:

1. Stick to a set schedule.
We offer 3 choices for workday schedules.
Pick one and stick to it:
8:00 -4:30
8:30 -5:00
9:00 -5:30
Chronic tardiness will not be excused by regular make-up time.
If you wish to change your workday schedule, you will
need to clear it with KS so that there is
even distribution among the staff.

2. Allow extra time for Traffic
Traffic excuses will no longer be accepted for chronic tardiness.
Road work, inclement weather, and highway accident frequency are all
reasonably predictable. Allow for extra time in the morning to assure
punctuality.

3. Check in/out by e-mail
For time-keeping records, check in with KS by e-mail 4 times a day:
Arrival, go to lunch, return from lunch, and end of day. Do the same if
you must leave during the day for a personal appointment.
The transmission time that registers on your e-mail will
provide an automatic, reliable timekeeping record. It will not be necessary
to keep your own time cards as well, unless you wish to.

4. Don't turn your computer off tonight.
You will need to leave your computer on when you leave work
tonight so that TD can synchronize personal computer clocks
with the file server. We will make every effort to keep them
synchronized, but the file server's clock will rule.

I understand there has been some grumbling about these changes, but we need
to be more disciplined about timekeeping, and for now, this is the preferred solution.

Thank you,
KM

Re: AND YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD IT BAD....

Girls,

what is most irritating is that the OWNER/BOSS/CEO does not put his foot down..he lets her do whatever the hell she wants and does not do anything to stop it. This is just the tip of the iceberg....I ahve posted other things in the past about where I work and what goes on here...its not normal stuff, and its hard to get a job where I get my health insurance paid for, etc...

I am looking tho, I am praying i have a new job before the new year...

I came in on Monday after the looong weekend, refreshed, then the emails from her started....I seriously got the shakes and I coudl feel my whole body tense...thats NOT ME...I am a happy and carefree person, but you screw with me this way, Ia m out the door...I have had enough...its not healthy and it stresses me out, sometimes so bad it causes chest pains...this is not normal behavior, OK I can understand having a meeting, laying down a few rules..but we all know the people it is because of, and its all the new people, it was strict when i started here almost 4 years ago, since then, it has gone to hell...but constant harassing emails are just not acceptable..I ahve to take 2, sometimes 3 major highways just to get to work, I already give myself 30 minutes to get there, but a lot of times it takes even longer, it should only take 15 minutes at the most....

I wish this was just entertainment for you guys, but its my reality!!!!

how awful. i totally know how you feel about being somewhere where you feel you are physically ailing from the aggravation. this woman sounds like a real piece of work. i guess the best you can do is deal with it until you find something else.

good luck to you - and know that most places aren't like this. hopefully you will find yourself in the dream position shortly!

Really stinky!!!!

Hopefully things will work out, eventually they have a way of, smoetimes you have to put your dues in first.

I used to commute like 1 1/2 hours to the city, giong in on a 4:45AM train. Sometimes coming home at 9:30PM.

Now I drive 25 minutes before or after rush hour traffic,,snd no train ticket allows me to afford my new car payments----IT'S GREAT!!!!

I did it though for 2 1/2 years. (of course still in search for better benefits though)

I can't believe that. Im sorry but to have to e-mail saying u have to e-mail a time clock would be more efficent.

Just for fun, everytime I did something I'd email them - hey Kim, I just farted! Hey Kim, I'm going to pee right now: Hey Kim, I'm pulling a wedgie out of my butt! Hey kim, I'm going to the fax machine and I'll be standing there approximately 1.2 and one half second! I've never heard such asinine requests at a job! Who the hell is management in this place??!

LOL!!!!!!!

I think the policy (scheduled times and even the emailing since they won't get a time clock) is fine but the tone and the details are excessive, condescending and way way over board.

Good luck on your new job search!!!

THE LATEST:

Loyal Staff,

Bear with me on this, we need to tweak it a little more.

As it turns out, you WILL need to continue to keep signed time-cards
in addition to e-mailing KS. Please resume filling
them out, and enter the times recorded on your e-mails. Give
them to KS every week as you have been doing, with your
hours totalled.

KS will enter the e-mail times on an X/L spreadsheet and total
them at the end of the week. Our aim is to keep the differences
to a minimum, so please take care to be as accurate as possible
with your addition and multiplication.

No message is required on your e-mails to KS. Don't bother to
type out a message - just SEND. A brief note in the Subject line will suffice
such as 'time in' 'time out', or if you prefer, no
subject line notation at all. Kim will not open these e-mails
unless you ask her to, in the subject line.

You will need to be responsible to remind yourself to send your
timekeeping e-mails 4 times a day. Chronic forgetfulness will not
be tolerated.

We may have to continue to refine this further, so bear with me
during this teething phase.

Thank you,

Re: AND YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD IT BAD....

they seem pretty strict on time...so if you allow extra time in the morning and get to work EARLY...can you leave EARLY then...

so there are only 12 workers and 4 SUPERVISORS? and they can't keep track of their employees??!!! seems like the workers aren't the ones with the problem!!!

This cannot be for real, I read your post all the time and it seem like such a joke, like this cannot possibly be where grown folks work. They are treating you all like chidren. I could not work there. *shakes head in disgust* unbelievable.

Re: AND YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD IT BAD....

Someone needs to send her an email telling her, with all these darn email she is sending, you cannot keep up with the time allowed.

Re: AND YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD IT BAD....

Here's a thought - collect all the emails they have sent you in an envelope and go to a Dr. Show them the constant emails and harrassment and tell them you are stressed to the max and can't take it anymore.

Maybe the Dr. will put you on medical leave for a month or so - WITH PAY (b/c of what they are doing to you on your job) and you can take that time to find yourself a new job!

I think it's normal procedures to send out emails, but that's flat our harrassment!!

I would write back that I am trying to get some work done but the constant emailing and clock-watching is eating up my time. Seriously, this is ridiculous!

Sounds like it will take her more time to figure everything out then they'd lose if you were off on your time card.

Re: AND YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD IT BAD....

Holly - we have a hand-scan time clock and it's just as annoying! I'm salaried and yet I have to scan in morning, night, and if I leave the 'campus' mid day.

The really insulting part is that they say it's so that if there is a fire or other emergency they know who is in the building. BS - They would have no clue as to where I was during the day - it could be any of 3 buildings, a shipping trailer, or the vendor next door that we deal with - any of those are possible throughout my work day. It's so insulting.

I got reprimanded by HR for being 'late' 5 times YTD which means I was clocking in past the 4-minute grace period (my boss treats it like a joke fortunately). But do they acknowledge with thanks the overtime I put in???? Only my boss, not HR or the owners.

We extended our 'summer hours' to a year-round event - we work 15 extra minutes Mon-Thurs. and leave at 4:00 on Friday. The kicker is that it has to be a pre-scheduled 15 minutes. If I end up staying til 6:30 to handle an emergency or finish a critical project on Monday, that's just overtime - I still have to put in my extra 15 minutes on T-TH to qualify for Friday early leave!!! Auugggh!!!!

I can sure sympathise with what you're going through.
