Yes, read it... cried through almost the whole thing! It was really good but TOTALLY sad.

Edited to say,

And it's based on a true story, too!! Frank McCourt's autobiopgraphy, in a way. I haven't read the sequel, ' 'Tis ', but my sister read it and said it wasn't as depressing as Angela's Ashes.

good to hear, I am only 1/4 a way through it and was hoping I was normal to feel so sad while reading it

I loved the part about the water in the kitchen.
SO real!

Loved it!!

Yes, Theresa, it was funny about the water in their apartment. What did the family say-the first floor was Ireland (with all of the water) and the second floor was Italy (because it was so hot).

It is a sad story, he had a childhood that I couldn't even imagine enduring! I found it a bit uplifting knowing that in spite of all of the problems he faced, he went on to become a successful author.

Tis is a great read too (but I like Angela's Ashes more)!!

Great book. I found it sad at times as well. I didn't read 'Tis yet. I have it, but just haven't read it yet.
