soooo FH's best friend got engaged in august- 3 months before us
they didnt do anyyy wedding planning until January they are planning to get married at Atlantis
so i dont talk to the girl at all, except when we double date, we went on vaca with them in January- at the Atlantis
I TOLLLDDDDD them that FH & I were planning for an april 2011 wedding
(this is our plan if we dont go thru with the show and get married this july- they do not know about the show tho)
this BIATCH!!!!!! tells FH the other day that they are planning for april 2011 wedding!!!!! IN ATLANTIS BAHAMAS!!!!!!!!!
like is she for real????
she would expect us to go to the bahamas a week or 2 weeks or 3 weeks before our wedding?
not only that but stay at the atlantis??? ANDDDD her guests have to stay at the one and only resort- which is THE MOST expensive resort there...im talking 1k/night
is this not ridiculous??
FH is like whats the big deal???
ummm hello thats a couple grand we have to spend right before our wedding...we are going to be crazy with last minute things...not the time for a vaca!
im trying not to get too upset, bc i dont have a date yet and anything could happen- plus i very well may be getting married this july
but stillllllll she doesnt know that...UGH just needed to vent to some girls who would understand
*sorry its so long*

wow, that's so annoying. it's tough when everyone we hang out with is around the same age. everything seems to always happen around the same time, engagements, babies, etc.
hopefully the show works out for you, but otherwise, i'd def tell your FH's best friend that he may want to reconsider!

You have a right to be annoyed. Especially because you TOLD HER April 2011. But don't jump to an argument yet...because as you said, you might be getting married this July. And then it doesn't matter. However, I'm not a big fan of destination weddings in places like Atlantis because it is so expensive. It's really not far to ask your family and friends to spend that kind of money for your wedding. And usually, less people come because of the expense. I would rather have all of my family and friends with me than be on an island somewhere. But just wait and see how things pan out. If you get married this summer, then no worries. If you are indeed getting married April 2011, then deal with it as it comes.

do NOT let her get to you. Chances are she won't go through with it. Nobody has that kind of money nowadays to piss away for somebody's wedding. Especially friends. I wouldn't worry, your wedding will be more practical and realistic to attend than hers. Let her live in her dream world

Re: annnoyyyeeeddd
NO you deserve to vent! Its completely understandable!!! How manipulative and underhanded of her to do that to you and your FH. She had plenty of time to decide what she wanted to do for her wedding and she chose NOW to decide that she wanted to do a DESTINATION WEDDING the same month as you and your FH (her FH's best friend) plan to get married! She obviously knew that you guys were thinking about april '11 and most likely she wanted to steal some of your thunder! Also giving that its your FH's best friend, its almost certain that you two are expected to go! Tsk!!!
I would ignore her for now or maybe the next time you see her, discuss all ur plans for april '11 and how you will be so busy, you will not have time to spend 3000 on someone else wedding!!! Tsk!

you have every right to be pissed.. i would be if i told her the date i was planning and she scheduled around then... chances are she won't go thru with it once she begins planning... but if she does, there is a resort across the street from atlantis (comfort inn suites or something) that is significantly cheaper- so keep that in mind. even though the whole trip would be expensive

i totally agree. until they actually 'plan' something instead of talk about it, let them live in their dream world as kshea said.

I think that destinations weddings like that are a little in considerate to people, and you shouldn't expect everyone to go on a full vacation just for your wedding.
I would be totally pissed too!

I dont blame you for being upset at all! that is crazy! one of my friends is doing something similar - she got engaged about 2 months after us and is planning theirs 2 weeks before ours! (purposely, mind you!) and it seems that everything I do, she follows suit, even though I dont tell her anything anymore!
I say, don't go. She should understand that you are saving for a wedding that might be right after hers, and you can't afford it. and if she doesn't understand, then its her problem! lol

I would be a little annoyed myself. It's one thing if they decide to have their wedding date kind of close to yours but still in the area - NOT when you have to spend thousands of $$ and fly somewhere for it!! And it's not like they didn't know what your plans were (even though you don't have an official date yet), you still have a time frame and a specific month.
I think that's kinda effed up.

Re: annnoyyyeeeddd
Ugh I had something similar happen to me, but not nearly as bad. One of my best friends said she was getting married March 2011. I booked November 2011. Then we went gown shopping with another friend and she said that they changed to October 2011 - and it's in Pittsburgh. Just annoying.
