Announcements !!!

Can we send out announcements even if we aren't' having our engagement party till Feb?

You can send them out early. This way everyone is knows that there is a celebration to follow.

An e-annoucement is NOT the same as an e-party invite. People may get the annoucement now and send you a gift. Then a few weeks later get an e-party invite and feel like 'another gift' has to be purchased. I would just send out the e-party invites- IMO. Also, be very carefully about sending out annoucements to people who are NOT invited to the e-party. You don't want them to feel like they are good enough for the annoucement but not your celebration.

Well I wanted to send them out to let everyone know but I am now rethinking this bc I don't want to send it out to people who aren't invited to the party..

But how will they know there is a party????

I don't see any harm in sending out announcements, however, I wouldn't send them out to people aren't invited to the wedding...

How are you doing an engagement announcement? I'd like to do one, but don't know if they should be cards, or a picture and a card. (My name, after all, is Clueless).

I sent out announcements because I am not having an e-party. I agree, people may feel obligated to give two gifts.

We sent out announcements, but we are not having an engagement party. We got some gifts, not as much as you would think. We sent announcements to alot of people, some of which are long-distance family members that we are not inviting to the wedding. I'm not sure if we would have done the announcements if we were planning on also having a party. You may just want to send announcements to people who you are not inviting to your party. We had them made up at a store, they actually could have been wedding invitations (they came w/2 envelopes).

Perhaps you can send out something like those cute x-mas picture cards that people send out wishing people happy holidays and announcing your engagement?

Marcella, Me and my FH just did that. We are waiting to get them back from our photographer. We are also using that as our engagement pic.

How about the newsletter idea?? it can be sweet and to the point 'Extra Extra read all about it, Ronnie proposed to Theresa, and she said YES! or something..
