Announcements? ~long~

After reading ToninMike's announcement post I realized I have an announcement 'issue.'

FH has both of his parents, but my mom passed away 3 years ago and my dad got remarried a year later to a woman who I do not really appreciate. (Notice my kind wording). She is an alcoholic, she is brash, and she has to be at the wedding.

Questions:
Do I have to announce her WITH my Dad?
If I do, what do I say? I mean....how will that be worded?
I am 30 years old and this woman is in no way my step-mother. I REFUSE TO USE ANY MOTHER TERM TO DESCRIBE HER.She is my father's wife. Nothing more.
Part of me feels like I'd be betraying my mom by even announcing her. I want to cry just thinking about it.

Help! How do I do this?

If you don't want to annouce her then you don't have to, remember it's your wedding and your way. You can just introduce your Dad by himself or maybe have a sibling (if you have any) escort him in and have the MC say, 'the bride's dad (name) escorted by the bride's brother/sister (name)'.

No, I do not think you need to announce her.
Let her sit at the table and watch the BP announcements with the rest of the guests. Explain how you feel to your dad, he should understand.

Re: Announcements? ~long~

My FH's father died when he was 7 years old. His mother has been with the same man ever since, so she's been dating him for almost 20 years. They are not [and will not get] married. But they have lived together for about 7 years now, so they pretty much are acting like a married couple. He is divorced and has 2 sons who also are around FH's age and they all used to go on vacation together and grew up together as kids [but they lived with their mother]... Well FH doesn't love the guy. Yea, he pretty much hates him. So he is walking his mother down the isle. And for the reception, we havent figured it out exactly yet, but he certainly doesnt want him to be announced. I mean, this guy isn't his step-father so technically he has no play in the wedding, BUT they DO have a 20 year history... sooo we will probably either just announce her alone, or if FH is feeling soft, we'll have him escort her in, and have them announce- 'GROOM'S MOTHER- Mrs. Barton, accompanied by- Mr. XXXXXX8o)'

That's always an option- having them say 'The bride's father Mr.____, accompanied by his wife Mrs._____

??? Just a suggestion!!!! You really dont have to have her at all if you dont want of course! Have him go alone!

I really appreciate the suggestions.
I mean if we aren't going to be announcing my grandfather~ who is out VIP family member~ why should I stress out over her?
I am going to talk to my dad about both options:
*having him announced with my sis (MOH)
*announcing him 'The Bride's Father accompanied by some ugly woman he found in the parking lot....'
