Just wanted to let you girls know that if you are registered at Macys, make sure the china and other more expensive items are actually stocked in the store. It turns out that Macys doesn't stock most of the wedding stuff in the actual store so that your guests have to pay for shipping if they try to buy anything at the actual store. Fortunoff and Bed Bath are much better about actually stocking the items that they advertise as carrying. I can't stand when companies practice procedures like this just to make more money. They are totally making profit off of their shipping... even though they 'claim' they are not.

...and you can't rely on them to ship the RIGHT china after it takes them 6 weeks to get it to you.

Good to know, why dont you switch the china registry to Bed Bath & Beyond or Fortunoff. Thats terrible that Macys charges shipping fees.

Interesting that you say that. I don't really know about Macy's but I was told that BBB doesn't stock their china (more than maybe one place setting) and it has to ship from a warehouse in NJ. I was told this by multiple people, who all had my china sent to me.
When I exchanged a few pieces that came broken, I couldn't pick them up from the store -- they had to ship from NJ.
I do think that stores should ship free if they dont have what you need in their store. Many clothing stores have this policy.

Re: annoyed at Macys
this must be something new that they do. Me and my mom bought gifts last year off of someones Macy's registry (it was part of her china set) and they didnt have it in the store so they had it shipped to us for free and it was wrapped....maybe they started charging recently?

Thanks for the info.. my cousin ordered stuff from our macy's registry for our eparty and she was really upset too b/c they were shipping things out individually b/c they didn't have all the items in one store.

I have gotten a ton of stuff of off my macys registry...the issue is that if it is ordered online it comes from a totally seperate stock than in the stores..that is why i have been getting tons of packages little by little...
A few of my guests have just purchased what was available in the store and I know a couple did not pay shipping when it had to be ordered...it may be who you are dealing with...
who knows
