Annulments

Annulments

Anyone have experience with these? FH is in the process of getting one. We are in the 2nd stage now. I was just wondering if anyone had an idea about how long I have left to wait. The church won't even interview us until this is finalized...

Words of encouragement or wisdom are accepted too. Thanks!

But everything WILL work out the way it should.. just be patient

Re: Annulments

if you're getting married in the Catholic Church you will have to have the marriage annulled in through the Tribunal/... speak to the preist and see if this applies to you.

if it does, then it's a very very long process.
just b/c get a divorce or an anullment in NYS.. the catholic church will not recognize that you're divorced... in their eyes you're still married so then you have to go through the Tribunal to get it anulled... once you do that.. then you can get married in the catholic church. If you have to go through that process... you will then need to contact the ex and have him/her appear for the annullment hearing and also you will need witnesses... it's a painful process and it's too much to go through while planning your wedding. I would seek other alternatives.. just in case.. the Tribunal does not grant you an anullment in time for your wedding.

Thank you everyone. We are in the middle of the process with the Tribunal right now. I was just wondering for time purposes, just so I had something to look forward to :)

I'm sorry, but I'm a little confused - are you and your husband getting an annulment, or is he in the process of an annulment w/his ex?

I guess I'm confused b/c you said he's your FH (future husband) and your wedding date isn't until '08.

My FH (future husband, currently fiancee ) was married 10 years ago. He needs to get that annulled before we can make my dad happy and get married in a church.

I don't have a husband yet and I have never had one. Hopefully when I do I won't ever need an annulment.

If the annulment isn't approved my dad will have to get over himself and we will get married at the Crest Hollow Country Club on March 28, 2008.
