My FSIL has anorexia, bad, and she is in the BP. She called me up last week asking if she could wear a long sleeved jacket with her dress (instead of the 3/4 length sleeved bolero jacket that is coming with the dress). I told her to get whatever she feels most comfortable in, just as long it is the same color obviously.
I really don't know how they are going to fit her in this dress. They ordered her a size 0 and I think she is still going to need a lot taken in.
This disease is so horrible!! I wish I could just make her eat

Re: anorexia
my neice has bulimia - all eating disorders are difficult - more difficult than substance abuse because people can never remove food from their lives - you dont need drugs or alcohol, but you need food to live.... Its a horrendous disease....

Re: anorexia
As someone who struggled with anorexia throughout my teen years, I feel really awful for anyone going through that. She's embarrassed & wants to cover up her arms, but just can't help herself from starving. You're a great FSIL for being so concerned about her and understanding of how she feels. It's true, you just want to make her eat, but there's no way, if you try she'll just go in the opposite direction and lose even more weight. It's such a complicated disease & so hard to recover. I really hope she's getting the help she needs to get healthy again.

Re: anorexia
One of my best friends was bulemic. She struggled with it for a very long time and no treatment worked until she wanted to change her ways. My advice would be to be supportive. There is also a great day program provided by Renfrew in NYC. I would strongly recommend looking into it.
