another 'And Guest' question

another 'And Guest' question

i'm doing the 'if youre not in a serious relationship, you dont get the +1'

But what about the people that you dont even know if they are in a relationship? like your cousin from nebraska that you havent spoken to in 5 years but your parents insist they come?

how does THAT work?

we had that situation too! we just asked their parents if they were dating someone seriously.

the whole 'and guest' thing is so annoying!

Unfortunately, as much as I'd like to, I can't invite everyone with a guest, so I'm doing the 'in a serious relationship' rule, too. For people from OOT, though, I'm inviting with a guest, esp. if they won't know many other people there.

The 'And Guest' issue has been the thorn in my wedding side!

if you can spare I'd invite them with a guest ( only b/c they may not want to travel alone etc....)

if budget or space is an issue, you just have to put on your scooby doo detective had and ask around to see what their status is.

Sorry! I know how annoying this is!

Etiquette says that if u wanna encourage ppl to bring dates you should put And Guest regardless of their romantic situation. If you're trying to keep your guest list at a certain number skip it, if you don't mind how many ppl come and the more the merrier I would put And Guest on all of them without considering if they r or not in a relationship (that's what I did cuz we're having a small wedding and I don't mind if the list would grow, if I was trying to cut back I would skip the guest part altogether unless I knew the name of the person they're dating).

I would just invite them w/o guest and if they are really dating someone and adamant about bringing them, then they will call you and ask you if its ok to bring their guest.

Why stress yourself out with asking around the family if so and so is dating anyone, you have enough to do.

IMHO, i think you should invite everyone with a guest... I understand the coworker thing cause they can all sit at the same table.. but everyone else should have a guest. I have a few freinds that are not in a relationship at all but also wont know poeple there either so I cant just invite them alone..that would be rude because they wont know anyone and I want them to have fun

Honestly , at least so far, the guest thing has not been an issue for us... Surprisingly.. but ofcourse everything that we didnt think would be an issue has been an issue.. i digress...

IMO if you are not close enough to somone to know whether they are in a serious relationship or not then I wouldnt stress out over whether to invite them witha guest or not. If you can find out easily by asking a parent or someone you speak to often try to find out.. otherwise dont bother.

. Like others said if you have room to spare invite them with a guest esp since they are from out of town, it would be nice . Whether they have a signifciant other or not they can choose whether they want to come alone or with a guest--- Honestly some people if not in a serious relationship would rather come alone, its a chance to meet people and/or not feelthe pressure to 'find a date' bc they have been invited with one and dont want to feel like a loser showing up without one and/or they dont feel like paying for an extra person in the gift to you and FH if is not their gf etc.

If you want to cut down your list or keep it as is then dont invite them with a guest- I dont think its rude (its only rude if you know they are i.e. engaged and you just dont invite their fiance etc).
