Another Aruba Review!
Just back from 9 days in SUNNY FABULOUS ARUBA! Stayed at the Radisson, had a pool/ocean view. Room was great, bed was a little hard though. Beautifully decorated room in West Indian style. Pools are awesome. We thought it was the best pool out of the hotels. It had a section where you could put chairs and sit in the sun and still be in the pool in about 3-4 inches of water. Was really nice in the blazing sun. Staff was friendly too. Overall the Radisson gets a 9.
What we did... Jeep tour of Island... a MUST DO. You get to see the whole island in 1 day, and go to the most remote places like Natural Pool and the Gold Mine Ruins. Definitely the best way to see the island.
We also snorkeled on the Mi Dushi... if you are going to snorkel, you MUST go on this boat. It is a 75 year old sailboat. The other snorkeling trips are on a catamaran and JAM PACKED! Ours only had a few couples on it, and it was great. We really liked it. The staff was out of this world, fun and interesting.
We did the Kuku Kunuku bus (bar hopping) was great fun. Learned some local line dances... drank too much and had a great time.
Most of all, we relaxed by the beautiful ocean every day. One day we went into town for some shopping.. ( got a diamond pendant as a souvenir!!
All in all, a fantastic vacation. Oh, places we ate:
El Gaucho= best steak I EVER ATE!
Sole Mare= Italian like homemade
Blossom's (in the Wyndham) Japanese Hibachi- awesome food and service
Ruinas del Mar (in the Hyatt) food is overrated, but ambience is what you pay for. Beautiful.
Caffe Baci (in Wyndham) Italian- great pasta, terrible service.
Le Petit Cafe -steak cooked on a rock- the worst meal we ate all week. There was a weird seasoning on the steak. We didn't care for it, and I have eaten there many many times before, and it used to be MUCH BETTER. They may have changed owners or something, because it was not the same.
Chalet Suisse- Fantastic. This was a funny night, b/c the island was under a black out and this was one of like 4 restaurants that was open b/c they had their own generator. The place was packed! Normally we were one of few in a restaurant all week. Even though they were obviously understaffed, it was great. 2nd best meal of the week, by far.
Fantastic Vacation, and ideal honeymoon spot, as I knew it would be.
