Another baseball question spinoff

To all the Yankee fans, who do you hate more

Andy Petite or
Roger Clemens

If I were a Yankee fan it would have to be Roger Clemens.

I might be in the minority here when it comes to Yankee fans, but I don't 'hate' either of them..

Then again, I was never a Clemens fan even when he WAS a Yankee .. I couldn't get past how many years he'd been on Boston , nor how 'dirty' he pitched.

IMO, Clemens was never a warm and fuzzy type .. and he made no secret that he was in the game for the money, to win 300 games, and to get a WS ring. HE got the money, got his 300 win, and got his ring. What else did he need with the Yankees any longer? Now he's doing it where he WANTS to do it, and got a nice cushy deal in the process. He's back in TX and close to home (and pitching great, i might add)

The only part I truly resent is all the accolades and hoopla last year about his retirement... it seems so hyprcitcal now. But as I said, he was never a favorite of mine so I wasn't necessarily sad to see him go. And it seemed not so out of character for him to do something like that.

Andy Pettitte, on the other hand.. well I'll always love him. I truly miss him. But I certainly don't blame him for making the move to the Astros. He was often treated shabbily by the Yanks, and they played too many contract and money games with him over the years. He obviously just wanted to go home, since he was offered a sweeter deal with the Yanks and still chose to sign with the Astros.

Clemens.

Wasn't a fan of his even while he was still on the team. I think he's overrated. I have no facts or figures to back that up, but I think he's overrated.

I know .. its a very sad, scary and strange day when OctGroom and I agree on something baseball related .. as long as it isn't a METS/YANKS discussion, we're cool

Clemens. He gave the whole baseball world the impression that he was retiring and then he changed his mind without even giving the Yankees, the team that he said he was destined to be on, a chance to have him play for them again.

I actually respect Andy for what he did. He took less money and went to a more questionable team just to be with his family. I have no hard feelings towards Andy.

hmmmm -- the yankee brass didn;t like that when it happened to them

how about david wells giving a verbal commitment to another team, only to have george throw a wad of cash in his face and he stabs the other team in the back

I guess so..i really need an explanation?

Re: Another baseball question spinoff

two years ago david wells was a free agent after playing a year with the blue jays ( i think)

so, he gets an offer from cleveland to play there -- they wine and dine him and he gives the verbal OK

then george comes along and throws cash at him and he signs right then and there without giving cleveland a chance to counter offer

For a big wad of cash...hell i'd go too!

But i am curious what everyone 'theory' is as to WHY Clemens went to texas???
