If I were a Yankee fan it would have to be Roger Clemens.

two years ago david wells was a free agent after playing a year with the blue jays ( i think)
so, he gets an offer from cleveland to play there -- they wine and dine him and he gives the verbal OK
then george comes along and throws cash at him and he signs right then and there without giving cleveland a chance to counter offer
I think it was actually the Arizona brass.. but it's still the same. Then again.. think about who we are discussing.. Wells and George.

I LOVE THEM BOTH
There is NO reason at all to hate Andy, he was traded...end of story
He'll be coming back to end a Yanks playoff run in a year or two. You know what they say about players who leave....

Andy wasn't traded. He signed as a free agent with Houston.

Clemens. He gave the whole baseball world the impression that he was retiring and then he changed his mind without even giving the Yankees, the team that he said he was destined to be on, a chance to have him play for them again. _____________________________________ hmmmm -- the yankee brass didn;t like that when it happened to them
how about david wells giving a verbal commitment to another team, only to have george throw a wad of cash in his face and he stabs the other team in the back
I don't care that Clemens decided on a different team. What I don't like is that he had everyone thinking that he was retiring and then he decided not to. In the 4 years Clemens was with the Yankees we had to hear about how he always wanted to play for the Yankees and retire as a Yankee, go into the HOF as a Yankee, etc. Then out of nowhere he says, hey I decided I don't want to retire and I'm going to go play for my home team Houston.
I actually don't hate either of them, but between the 2 I would have to choose Clemens. I'm not one of those fans that's bitter when a free agent decides to play for a different club. I just don't like the whole retirement thing that Clemens did.
As far as Wells goes, I don't think money has anything to do with his decision. Wells always just wanted to be a Yankee. And players do that kind of thing all the time. They shop themselves around to get other teams to bite.
