Another budget melt down...

...So i was just on the budgeter on martha stewart weddings updating some info on there and adding new possible costs...My wedding is almost $50,000!!!!!!!!!!!
That is almost my entire yearly salary!!!

So now what to do...Where are there places to cut costs?? I know that there are alot of little DIY things to do...but what about vendors and things like that???

no limos, no extras with the dj, low cp's or ones without flowers, drop albums from photo package.

don't worry it will work out, you have plenty of time to save too.

and remember budgets are meant to be broken! haha!

Most won't do this but some will

Ask vendors if they can not charge tax if you pay cash

Ask RH if they can lower the price per head for anyone over the guarantee (even $5 might help here and there)

Have RH combine a place and only have 2 options (e.x., chicken and stead on one place instead of having them as separate choices. this saves the hall $ cuz they ahve more of an idea of how much they need to order)

if i tink of anything else i'll let u know

Alternate high and lower CP's if u def want some high.

Re: Another budget melt down...

start prioritizing. i think FH and I finally decided to go with band instead of a DJ. for a couple of reasons, but it will definately help with the budget!!

also, i plan to totally comparison shop/DIY my invites and STDs.

I am trying so hard to stick within our set budget. We could go over...but on principle, i am taking the whole budget thing as a challenge....lets see how long that lasts!!!

included in the $50,000 is everything....From my hall (which is only $18000...not bad at all) to the honeymoon with every little detail in between (bp gifts, flowers, limo, photobooth...everything)

Don't worry. I have a budget meltdown every other day. I just try to remind myself that it will all work out.

i personally think that if you can manage to pay $50,000 for everything then more power to you. my wedding will be paid in part by me, my parents, FMIL & FH & i am pretty sure in the end it will end up costing more then that. we are also not getting anything to extravagante only things that will make my dream come true.

Calm down.

Think things over and see what you really want/need. If you don't do programs is anyone gonna notice? If you have low centerpieces will anyone but you care?
Ruben and I are on a strict budget and I keep telling myself that I just have to stick to what we REALLY need and things we want if we can afford them.

do low cps... and you dont need to do the extras like cry packs, programs, etc.

Maybe try and get only flowers that are in season for October for CP's and BoK. Also you could DYI the invites and programs or cut out the save the dates (which I don't really recommend since your date falls on a holiday weekend) Try looking for dresses that are less expensive or where you can get a good discount. I hope this helps but its best to be honest with yourself about the budget and cut costs where you can.

I am also doing my cps myself. I am going to get bowls and put votive candles and glass rocks or flowers in the bottom of the bowl. They also have things called vase lights that you can put right at the bottom of the vase (and conceal with rocks or other decorations) that make the whole vase light up. They even have floating candles in the shape of flowers. I think it will be very pretty and WAY cheaper than high floral cps. To get ideas just google votive and flower cps and you will see a ton of pics. Hope this helps!

Re: Another budget melt down...

You know what we got rid of the parent albums from our photo and stuff like that. We are getting the most basic package from our DJ, no lights, plasmas, etch. Using the house vendor florist, because we get our cp's for $25 each if we book with them. We are having a smaller wedding in the wintertime, and this saved us alot of costs...
