Another c-section question, might be TMI

Sorry if this is TMI but I have a question. How long after a c-section is there vaginal bleeding? I'm getting close to 4 weeks and I still have light bleeding. Is that normal?

One other thing, for those that had the steri-strips (I think that's what they are called) how long was it before they fell off?

TIA.

Re: Another c-section question, might be TMI

I bled very very lightly for about 4-5 weeks. It was just annoying, but had completely stopped by the time I went for my 6 week pp checkup.

My doc removed the steri-strips at my 2 week pp checkup.. I went in for him to check incision and he took them off.

Re: Another c-section question, might be TMI

Geez! I wasa still bleeding at my 6 week check up but that may be from the complications I had.
I think the strips fell off after a week or two? I can't really remember.

Re: Another c-section question, might be TMI

My sis-in-law just had a c-section last week & they informed her there may be bleeding up to 6 weeks (gradually slowing down).

May I ask what steri-strips are (having never been pregnant).

Re: Another c-section question, might be TMI

When you have staples to close the incision they remove them at put steri strips in the place of the staples. They are like tape.

Re: Another c-section question, might be TMI

They can also put steri-strips on top of stitches. I did not have staples- I told them I didn't want them. You can request not to have staples. If you have an allergy to adhesive DO NOT allow them to use steri-strips on you. Trust me...I had a huge infection because of it.

Good point Michele! That is so true, one of my friends had steri-strips placed after another type of surgery, and because she is allergic to adhesive she broke out really bad in blisters, which became infected, and eventually scarred.
