Another Decorating question- with Pics

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I have a large room in the new house w. lots of windows. I am leaning towards using sheers and heavier curtains on the three windows, not sure what to do w. the glass sliding doors. My couches are a taupe color, and the whole room is white (new construction-everything is white LOL). Thanks to Jenny, I am going off to Expo Design to get a long rod for the big (11 foot) window, but dont know what I can do besides hang curtains to dress up the room. Can I use a swag on a window that big?
Anyway, here are pics...excuse the mess

This one shows glass doors on right:

I want to dress the room up a little, but its such a huge room w. high ceilings, so its hard to make it feel intimate...

There are tons of possibilities for a windows/room that size! One word of caution -Dont spend money on hardware until you know exactly what you want to do. FM me and I can send you some rough ideas of window treatments I have used in the past.

Do you happen to know how big your center window is?

We have similar window setups (2 small double hungs and 1 large picture window) and we want to replace the old windows w/more energy efficient ones, but we can't find any replacement windows that are the same size as our current window.

What kind of light do you get through that window? Which direction does it face...South?

Are you just looking for decorative treatments or do you need functioning treatments (Privacy, sunlight/help w/temp. control)?

K, you have me laughing out loud at my desk. Did not mean to exclude you on the pics chica, these are making their great debut on LIW...our families have not even seen these yet LOL. Goes to show you where my priorities are When you come for the housewarming, we just wont let Ben into that room LOL

Jenny, the center window is 10 ft 8 inches long. The two smaller windows are both 44' accross. My goals in the room are twofold, firstly we have a painting that we bought on our honeymoon hanging opposite the larget window, so we want to filter the light so as not to damage the painting. THe large window faces North, the smaller one face west- but there are also sliding glass doors to the east, so the room gets tons of light.

I really want to make the room feel more intimate and warm. This is where we spend most of our time, but the size of the room and the ceilings make it feel cavernous. I am hoping window treatments can help....

Sounds like a plan, LOL!!

I wish I could offer more ideas on the window thing but I am having issues myself. I finally found a rod long enough for the bedroom window but now I can't find curtains I like. I didn't like the look of sheer (but it probably would look good in your room). So, I will most likely have to get them custom made
