Another Disney Question :)

Another Disney Question :)

So if you had the choice would you rather:

1) Save $50 and stay at one of the Disney All-Star resorts

-OR

2) Pay another $50 and stay at either the Disney Port Orleans-French Quarter Resort or Port Orleans Riverside resort

We are only staying on the Disney property for 2 nights (we are staying at timeshare the rest of the time). Opinions please! We've stayed at an All-Star resort before so we know what that is like, but we've never stayed at one of the ones they consider a step above those. Thanks!

I stayed at the Disney All Star Resort once and had no problem with it. If its saving you a few bucks, why not, its only for two nights! Just my opinion though :)

I have stayed at the port orleans french quarter 3 times and LOVED it. we had a river front room and each morning and night we would walk along the river towards the riverside hotel and it was just gorgeous. Also, they have boats that leave from a dock on the river to take you to downtown disney. Also, beautiful gardens to sit and veg and the pool is nice too :)

Trust me. Spend the $. The allstars are usually loaded w kids, school trips etc.

The moderate resorts are soooo much nicer. Do it!!! Its only $100

FH & I stayed at French Quarter. We liked it, but we've been spoiled by our families always staying in the Polynessian or Grand Floridian whenever we went down to Disney..

I didn't think there was a huge difference between FQ and Riverside from what I could see.

I don't know which one is nicer because I haven't really seen the rooms at the riverside... but I am sure they are both just as nice

I stayed in the Port Orleans Riverside and it was quiet compared to the All Star Resort

I loved it

I've stayed in the all-star resorts, and while they definitely aren't as nice as some of the other Disney resorts you still get the whole 'Disney Experience', including all of the perks, like extra magic hours and free transportation to the parks.

I haven't stayed in the other two you mentioned, but I don't think you have anything to worry about if you decide to go to the all-stars.

Re: Another Disney Question :)

It really depends on your priorities. We usualyl stay at an All Star or Pop Centurey (LOVE Pop Century!), but we did get a great AP deal at POFQ once. It was VERY nice and romantic. The room itself was marginally bigger. The real attraction for us was the grounds. They're so beautiful and romantic. the pool is amazing and there's a hot tub! Th gift shop and restaurants are nicer.

We personally spend so much time at the parks we barely even sniff the pool, so we mostly go with value resorts. It's nice for a long stay if you're going to walk around the grounds, take bike rides, enjoy the pool, but if you're always 'go go go', I think you're better off spending the extra $100 on a nice fireworks dinner at California Grill.

ETA: . Riverside is more spread out and has a few bus stops. I think you end up walking more. Riverside is more kind of rustic, wheras I feel FQ is more romantic style with magnolias, and the architecture and colors, etc. Plus is has an amazing pool!
