Another dumb cooking question....I am trying to be domestic tonight

What is the difference between breakfast sausage and regular?

I use turkey sausage- I wanted to put it in my spaghetti sauce but they only had the breakfast kind.
Dh says I can't use it.

WEll, breakfast sausage is smaller and sweeter and I think it's just processed meats. Regular sausage is ground meats in a casing. And larger.

HAHAHAHAAHA

OMG Sinny that is hilarous. Perhaps you should have a sausage taste-test so you can see the difference between them all LOL

My italian relatives are rolling over in their graves

(I shouldn't be one to talk, I'm not too much a chef either )

Re: Another dumb cooking question....I am trying to be domestic tonight

Hmmm that depends. I'm not usually home this early, I left early today because I am sick. So, figure I get home around 7-7:30. FH sometimes doesn't get home until 8 or later, especially if he is teaching (teaches a class on thursdays after work til 10 pm).

So, I'll cook maybe 2 times a week for us to eat together, and otherwise I eat when I get home, and he eats when he gets home. it's hard for us to time it to eat together sometimes, but we try!! If we're only going to miss eachother by a half-hour I will wait.

Also, when I say 'cook' I'm not exactly busting out the Julia Child. LOL I'm talking simple meals here... pasta, turkey burgers, chicken, stir-fry, etc with a side dish.... nothing earth shattering.

ETA -- on the weekends we will try some gourmet action once in a while... Martha Stewart recipe or something. It is fun! We cooked a great Valentine's Day feast: Pommes frites, filet mignon and a cranberry apple crsip for dessert.

Re: Another dumb cooking question....I am trying to be domestic tonight

I never cook (obviously) I am so bad at it.

Dh knows and doesn't expect me to, I guess I will need to learn, the few times that I do his whole face lights up....

I always promise myself I will start.

Anyway, just FYI, DO NOT ever put breakfast turkey sausage in your jar sauce.
It did not work out so well! I wonder if he will eat in anyway?????

Re: Another dumb cooking question....I am trying to be domestic tonight

I used to never cook, when i lived in the east village my kitchen was the size of a postage stamp! now that we have a bigger kitchen in our brooklyn apartment, I don't mind so much... it's fun sometimes! if we didn't have a dishwasher, though, that would be another story. LOL

Does DH ever cook for you? My FH is awesome with the wok.

I don't have a dishwasher

He does cook, not a lot but more than I do. He is way better at it than I am. Our old apartment had a tiny kitchen too, now our kitchen is bigger but we are lacking in counter space.

When I do cook I only know how to make a few things.

Mac and cheese (not from a box), chicken cutlets with wine sauce.....I think that's it!

Re: Another dumb cooking question....I am trying to be domestic tonight

in manhattan i used to put a large wooden cutting board on top of the stove to extend my countertop, it was helpful until i had to actually use the stove LOL

my parents just extended their kitchen and the thing is GIGANTIC.... now my mom doesn't cook as much anymore.
