Another E-party Question (with poll)

Another E-party Question (with poll)

We were planning our e-party for last month but had to cancel because of family health issues. We sent out the invites 2 months prior and actually had to cancel 3 days before. We were originally planning on having a weekend party. Saturday for my family and then one on Sunday for his side. Both parents (and most of the immediate) would be at both parties. We wanted to do it at FH's parents house (where we currently live) and it is too small to fit both sides. I think it was 70-80 for both sides. Well that was for January. Now we are planning for it in June and hope to have it just one day and squeeze everyone in the house/backyard. FH now wants to have it in a hall, but I don't want to spend the money. We are still debating it. What do you girls think?

1) 2 days at the house so there is more room for people
2) 1 day at the house so everyone can mingle and we save the most money
3) 1 day at a hall so that we don't have to worry about room and everyone can meet each other

Any other options we haven't thought about? TIA

we had ours at a hall, but i wanted a huge backyard shabby/chic party

the hall was gorgeous, but you can go just as nuts when renting tent, tables/chairs, linens, catering, service/help and so on

we had ours in a KOC and really didnt spend alot of money. They supplied everything so i wasnt stressed trying to buy napkins, plates etc. And they have a place that caters. If u want my more FM me

I voted for you to have the 1 day party at home. YOu invite who you can and make it easiest for you guys ....there is enough pressure on you and work for you to try to worry about making everyone happy ya know

i would do one day at the house. we're having ours at my fils and its going to be in their backyard. which is what i wanted, just a simple backyard party.

You don't need to do a hall.. you could do a restaurant but that can still get $$ but I vote for having the party at 1 time.. let them all mingle it hink it's more fun that way

Thanks for your input so far. I will keep everyone updated what we decide.

Have you priced any KOC halls yet?? Sometimes you can get away with doing it really cheap. Have your mother and FMIL make some trays of food so you can save money there..and go to a dollar store for all the plates, forks, tables clothes..etc. You can really make the place look great for like $50!

I think you should have it where both sides can be there together even if you do it at home. I kinda feel like thats a major part of the e-party is to have both sides meet so everyone feels more comfortable at the wedding

We had a luau themed eparty in the backyard and we had a great time! I felt it would feel less weddingish in the backyard and didn't want it to take away from the actual day.

If your backyard can fit all of them I would do it. I think it's better to have one instead of two parties just so the family can meet. But if you cant fit them have it at a hall.

I am having it at a hall just so I don't have to be bothered with set up and clean up.

I am having mine at the Polish American Club which is like the other halls discussed. I think it is easier. I didn't want a big e-party at first but it looks like its getting larger and larger!

I think one day at the house if you can swing it. I would love to be able to have our eparty in our backyard but we live upstairs (fh's brother lives downstairs) and it would be too hard to have people come all the way up the stairs to a clean bathroom.

i voted to have it at a hall... a little more money but then you're guaranteed that everyone will fit (and you can be certain that you're doing the whole thing in one day!)

I love an E-party at a house. Very intimate for families to get to know each other.

Thanks again or everyone's opinions! It is nice to see what other people think about things, especially when FH and I can't come to a decision.

It is so funny and strange that everything having to do with the wedding has come easy to us except things having to do with this e-party.

We found our place, photographer, and band no problem.

It seemed as every step of planning the e-party was a headache. As I said before, we had to cancel our first e-party due to family health issues. The first invitations were some project. Luckily we had so many extras printed because the spacing got messed up when we cut them so only half were acceptable to use. Once the invitations were done I had to redo half of them because the superglue didn't hold my ribbons. Tying bows was so tedious because it was hard to tie them perfectly and then even if they looked perfect when you put it into the envelope the bow changed positions and sometimes looked like crap. So I had to redo bows a million times. Then we ordered favors for the party and the labels were delivered wet, therefore unusable.

Luckily my wedding planning has been smooth sailing.
