When going to a wedding do you take into account if the couple had an engagement party or not???

Is it reasonable to give a couple who had no Eparty more money then a couple who's Eparty you attended and gave a monetary gift?

i don't think i have ever thought of that, so i guess that means that i don't take it into account.

I don't take that into account either.

I think many people take that into account (maybe not if it is close family)... JMHO
i think it is greedy and obnoxious to have:

an engagement party
a shower
a bachelorette party
a wedding

close friends and family give you gifts whether you have an engagement party or not

We are torn on having an e-party and with all the drama going on here I think we will skip it but one reason was because we didn't want people to think we were greedy(JMO). I've been to engagment parties and I never felt that way but I seem to hear alot of people say it(being greedy). My FSIL had 3 bridal showers(that's greedy).

It doesn't really factor in unless they're not really close friends of mine. I had an eparty, a shower, a bach party and wedding and I don't think I was greedy at all. My eparty was just for the BP and our immediate family. It was more a way for everyone to meet and greet than anything else. We did not register. My shower was for family and a few friends (I didn't invite any of DH friend's girlfriends, just my own.) I don't see how having a bach-party or wedding reception is greedy at all.

I kind of agree with nferrandi...

we are having an engagement 'gathering' and not calling it a party because we are only inviting BP and parents. We are not registering either or sending out invites.

Shower and Bach party is not under our direct control, so that can't be too greedy. And like some others said, if they are close they will give an engagement gift anyway, therefore making the amount for the wedding the same as usual.

HOWEVER,

Having a full blown e-party, shower, big bach party and wedding is another story....JMHO
