oh, and we are going for 2 weeks, and are going to 4 islands. You can probably go to a third island and be fine. I've been there before, for 2 weeks, and we went to 3 islands then...

We went to Maui first and then Kauai. Maui has a lot more to do and is a lot more built up. Kauai is the place where you want to sit back more and enjoy the lush scenry. We loved both islands. But you could def go to more then just 2 islands. We were there for 10 days total and we did 5 and 5 on each island. We could have gone to another island though.

See I am getting mixed reviews. I am planning to go to Oahu for about 3 days to see Pearl Harbor and then go to Maui for 5 days, but we cant deciede between Kauiai or the big island. People tell me Kauai is more greenery and that I won't like it. so we were thinking the Big Island for 6 days.

Re: Another Hawaii Help!
I've been to all four islands that you are thinking of and honestly it really depends on what you want to do while on your honeymoon.
Kauaii is complete relaxation. There are things to do (the canyon, NaPali Coast, etc.), but it is more green and a taking in the scenery type of island.
The Big Island, Kona, has more site-seeing than Kauaii, but still not much nightlife. I absolutely loved this island because the natural features (volcano, black sand beaches, waterfalls) are just so beautiful.
Maui is more upbeat and absolutely beautiful. There is so much to do here between laying on the beach and taking in the scenery like Kauai, seeing natural beauty like The Big Island, or going out like Oahu (see next but not as city like more town like). Definitely a must.
Oahu is more city like unless you travel to the North shore where there is not as much to do. If it is important to you to see Pearl Harbor, then I say it is a must. If not, then you can skip unless you want to be in the city.
I definitly think you can do three islands in this time. I would suggest to definitely do Maui, then either Kona or Kauai, and maybe a couple of days on Oahu.

the big island for 6 days is a lot...i've been there before. It is a lot of lava...everywhere. We are only staying there for 3 days. Last time I think we stayed 4.

Well we have a time share and using one week up there, but cant deciede if kauai is better to stay for a week of the big island. I mean they all pretty much have beaches. I just dont want to go to 2 many islands and need to deciede between the 2 islands.

Each island offers different activities and tastes. It all depends on what you are looking for. Kauai and the Big Island were our favorites but I know many people that loved Oahu and Maui. We liked Kauai because it's green and very tropically lush with vegetation. We liked the Big Island because of the great snorkeling we happened to encounter. Oahu is mostly known for the city area but we spent most of our time on the north side of the island. There is a lot of history and cultural things to do on this island that is very informative such as the Dole Plantation, the Polynesian cultural center, Diamond Head, and Pearl Harbor. Maui was our least favorite due to the traffic in Lahaina. Wherever you go you will love though and it will be special! Good luck, HTH!

Thanks so much. I am staying in Oahu for 3 days to visit pearl harbor and see whats its like. I am looking for relaxation and a lot of water activities( we scuba dive) Maui definetly going 5 or 6 day and a week to either, but probably the big island. We are not big party people. I want to go to luaus but we will not be up all night drinking thats not us. So more relaxing/hiking /swimming is what we are looking for.

We're going to Maui & Oahu. Kaui is supposedly not as commercialized as Maui, Oahu & The Big Island...I heard Kuai is more romantic but has less to do.

Oahu should definitely be a stop--Pearl Harbor, Waikiki Beach, Diamond Head, Dole Plantation--there's lots of history there so if you're gonna head over to Hawaii you might as well see some of it. Get to Pearl Harbor EARLY though because the Navy only ferries over a certain amount of people a day and once they run out of tickets, they won't ferry over anymore people to the actual monument.
You can probably visit more than two, but if you are limiting it go to Kuai--it's more lush and green.

Oh my gosh I forgot about the Dole Plantation! And Diamond Head is really nice as well! But depending on what you want to do you still may only need a few days at most on Oahu.

Yes, I agree about the beaches on the Big Island. We did find one beach with snorkeling. It was nice, but it was a public beach and very crowded. Our hotel was right on the ocean, but a lot of the coast is lava rock in Kona.
On Kauai, again our hotel did not have a private beach. We went to the public beach (poipu beach). It was nice. I don't know if other hotels have private beaches though.

I went to Hawaii on my HS senior trip, there were 60 of us who were 18 and disappointed and we also thought Oahu looked like a floating NY. There were slimy clubs and prostitutes on the corners plus people asking us to go to crazy drug parties. We wanted to have fun but this was not what we thought Hawaii was suppose to be like. This was coming from teenagers on their spring break so I can only imagine it wouldn't be what you'd like to see on your honeymoon. Go to Oahu for a day to see what it's about...and eat at Dukes!! Maui is wonderful...the best of both worlds, it's not too quiet or too crazy.

BTW. I should mention that it's the area of Waikiki Beach that can be gross, once you get away from the city it's nicer and there aren't as many tourists.

We did Kauai for a week with our timeshare and loved it! It's true it doesn't have as much of a nightlife as the other islands but, we were so exhausted with the wedding and the time change, we really weren't looking for a nightlife. We went out for dinner most nights and the restaurants were phenomenal!
The helicopter tour is great as well. We snorkeled at the beach in Poipu, it was great to see the fish so close. We also took the drive up to Waimea Canyon and the drive up to the North Shore of the island to Princeville which is really pretty.
We stayed at the resort at Poipu Pt and highly recommend it!
ETA: As per the original post, I definitely recommend Kauai. We didn't do the Big Island and Oahu was too much hustle and bustle for me!
Maui is wonderful as well, we didn't stay there as long as I would've liked to, we did 3 1/2 days there and 7 in Kauai.
