To the ladies that are planning on going to Hawaii or been to Hawaii.... FH and I are planning on island hopping for HM (well, just 2 islands =P)..which two combinations would you prefer or have done.... Maui is a definite for us....I'm not sure about the other islands...... I sort of want to go to all of them..but I only have little less than 2 weeks!!

Ok, Well, Oahu is a city just like New York CIty But with beaches, Kauai is very relaxing we loved it, we did the helicopter ride there, It was the best thing ever.

Maui is very nice too, we totally loved it
I went to Hawaii on my HS senior trip, there were 60 of us who were 18 and disappointed and we also thought Oahu looked like a floating NY. There were slimy clubs and prostitutes on the corners plus people asking us to go to crazy drug parties. We wanted to have fun but this was not what we thought Hawaii was suppose to be like. This was coming from teenagers on their spring break so I can only imagine it wouldn't be what you'd like to see on your honeymoon. Go to Oahu for a day to see what it's about...and eat at Dukes!! Maui is wonderful...the best of both worlds, it's not too quiet or too crazy.

I used to live on Oahu and visited Big Island (Hawaii) and Maui. What I usually tell my friends who are going there is to go to Oahu for a few days (2-3) FIRST. I think Oahu is what you see in the movies etc...waikiki and diamond head, and the Polynesian cultural center (if it is still there) and the North Shore (surfing). There is a lot of site seeing and history there. But it is still the capital and more city like...but still quintessential Hawaii. Then you should hit one of the other islands for relaxation. I loved Maui and found it more entertaining than Hawaii...but Hawaii has the volcano.
I still want to visit Kauai, Molokai and Lanai. All which are suppose to be beautiful but its more about the nature on those islands.

I've been to Oahu and Big island. For our honeymoon we are doing Kauai, Maui, and Oahu. I like big island, but the beaches to me were ehh. The black sand, green sand, etc were gorgeous, but the actual swimming beaches were very rough, small and rocky. The food on big island was ehh, we weren't impressed at all, and we tried EVERYTHING. Oahu was very busy, but the food choices were great. Were not really into night life, but if u want it, its in oahu. There is a lot of shopping in Oahu, Big Island had nothing really. They were both gorgeous in their own right, I just think kauai or maui would be a better choice for your honeymoon. HTH

i honestly think that u can hit 3 islands-- 2 days oahu 7 in maui and the remainder in kuaui the interisland flights are so short that if you plan it right, you can maximize your time
