Another hawaii question

Travel tom recommended getting a car in maui and kauai what do you guys think??

Absolutely in Kauai... You definitely need one. The things you will want to do are going to be spread all over the island (which is really small) and you won't get to enjoy it without a car. I don't know about Maui... I've never been there.

yes you definitely need a car!

We also always get a car in Oahu although most travel agents say you don't need one. FH hates public transportation (strange because he works for the LIRR) but he hates taking buses or cabs.

Public transportation in Oahu is HORRIBLE. The bus literally stops every 2 feet. No joke. Someone will get on and pull the thing at the same time. Its no wonder that Hawaiians (native ones) are so large... They take a bus to literally go two blocks. I'm not making a mean joke... I am serious.
