Before I go and block the hotel rooms, what should I find out..Do you have to leave a credit card number? and if they require you to block 10 rooms, what if only 4 rooms are booked?

You don't need to leave a credit card number. And if only 4 out of 10 rooms wind up being booked, you are not responsible for the other 6 rooms - they are just released to the public.

It looks like we're on the same schedule. I did this last week. I called 2 hotels and asked what the minimum (and max) number of rooms I could block, if I had to leave a deposit, if I didn't meet the block amount if the guests still got the discounted rate, were there any perks for my guests (shuttle to and from the reception site), what date the rate was good until....I think that was all I asked. But I meant to ask if they would hand out courtesy bags to guests as they checked in. Some places charge you per bag.
Hope that helps!

Are you ahead of schedule or am I really behind? How early do you do have to do that?

I found that it varied from hotel to hotel. The rooms I booked in Manhattan I had to leave a cc # but there was no min. I also booked some rooms in Ft.Lee and they didin't need anything except my name and the # of rooms.
