If a couple is married, but wife kept maiden name, is it addressed as
Ms. Jane Doe Mr. John Smith
Or
Mrs. Jane Doe Mr. John Smith
Also, can I leave the inner envelopes unaddressed?

Re: Another invite question
The correct way to address would be:
Mr. John Smith Mrs. Jane Doe
It would be OK to leave the inners unaddressed, unless there are additional people in the household that you either do or don't want in attendance.

Re: Another invite question
If they are married the man's name goes first. If unmarried, then it is in alphabetical order by last name.

Re: Another invite question
According to several of my sources, the man's name does go first for a married couple with the wife retaining her maiden name. If unmarried, the the woman's name could go first, if it precedes her partner's name alphabetically.
