ANOTHER Q for everyone.. What things did you want to do before you get married/have kids?

I am bored at work, and cannot muster up the energy to do anything.. I was having dinner with a friend last week and this question came up..

What were some of the things you wanted to do either before you got married, or had kids..

So, things you can do when you are single, or with FH before little kiddies come along..

For me- I always wanted to live in London.. I would like to do it for a year. Both our families are here, so I know this is where we will settle down. But, I have lived in NY my whole life- and would like to experience something different.

I also want to drive cross-country.. and head back to Europe and do an 'adult' version of back-packing (I am also too old to stay in hostles ).

What about you guys??

We definitely want to travel a lot, as much as we can and to as many places around the world that we can.

I already have a daughter so my life came to a screeching halt when I had her. But before she came along I pretty much accomplished all I wanted to. I'm an avid traveler so I went everywhere. Now I travel once a year instead of 3-4 pre-baby. I used to walk around with 3 days worth of clothes in the trunk of my car because I never knew if I would be going home. It felt good to slow down once my daughter was born.

Good question...

Nothing before marriage really but before little ones are around I want to rent an RV and drive cross country and once we get to CA, I want to go up and down the coast. Oh, and scuba drive the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

Travel - that is a must. See as much as we can of the world.
Finish my degree.
Establish a career.
Buy a house.

Become a partner in my firm
Figure out a way to be less selfish and MUCH more patient

i definitely want to be settled into a cushier part of my career before having kids, as in humane hours and no overnight call...

other than that, i would like for us to travel together a little before kids... not sure where exactly, but at least a few major trips...

I want to get tenure (sp?)

I would love to own a house if possible

And I want to spend 2 weeks in Europe.

We are waiting about 5 years, so hopefully i will accomplish most of this

Live in another state(I moved to CA and will probably end up back in NY someday), travel the world(I've been to Europe, Australia and Asia) so I guess that has been done, and get my education. I have two master's degrees you couldn't get me to go back to school if you tried. So I guess I'm were I need to be.

Before I get married? Not much time left or money left to even plan anything

Before children? Having a house first would be nice.....

Only time will tell.....?

TRAVEL!!!! I have traveled a lot as I grew up my parents are european (I'm first generation, and speak five languages) so I traveled always with my parents, but FH hasn't really traveled. I want to experience Europe with him and see his eyes when he experiences it for the first time....I want to see parts of the world I never saw.....I also want us to live together as a married couple before we have kids...really fulfill all our individual and combined goals before we have the responsibility of children

DEFINITELY TRAVEL!!
We plan on being married for at least a year before starting to try for a baby...so hopefully, in addition to our honeymoon, we will do at least another big exotic trip before trying for a baby!

drive to Florida

build up a savings account

pay off debt

lose 60-80 pounds

Before children: buy a condo or house, finish getting my dregree, and not wanting to go out every weekend like I do now.

This sounds awful, but I wish I dated more!! My fiance is only my second serious boyfriend.

Well, he is the reason I have finally lived my dream of travelling so that would have been my answer. I don't think much, I am really starting to feel like this is the logical place for my life to be going...

I want to do a lot of traveling, buy my house, get a promotion, move out of New York City and finish my law degree.

I don't know how many of those I will be ever to accomplish before FH actually starts to get annoyed. If it were up to him, we would have kids right now. He pretty much wants them right away.

Nothing really. I'm in my early thirties I've done it... school, career, house, no debt. Oh, except visit England... that's the honeymoon. Nothing left but the kids we are sooo ready
