Another RD question

Another RD question

Do I 'have' to have a beer and wine alcohol package? It really makes the price so much higher. We like to drink, but it's not like it's going to be awful if we don't. I just feel like it's so much $$!!!

We didn't...

HOWEVER, I did let everyone who had a drink put it on the tab. I think it was two drinks total per person, and it wasn't bad.

What do you mean? They were told they had a 2 drink max and then you paid the tab?

we're doing it because FHs family LOVES to drink, and his best man is a big drinker too...

if we were to pay for a tab, it wouldbe WAY MORE expensive per person...

It depends on your guests. Everyone invited to RD are drinkers so we kind of had to include the unlimited package.

i will not be paying for the 'booze' package ... we want to keep the price down and most of our people aren't big drinkers anyhow.

they'll have to deal with reality and stay sober

We are going to. I've been to a few where it wasn't included, and it was kind of annoying because at one place the waitresses wouldn't even start a tab, we had to go to the bar everytime we wanted a drink. I just think its a nice thing to include for your guests, especially ones who have traveled and may just want some wine with dinner.

WIth that said I don't think theres anything wrong with not doing it. If your worried about cost maybe you can have the restaurant put a bottle of wine or two on each table, sometimes this is cheaper.

Re: Another RD question

where is your rehearsal dinner. Maybe you could provide some type of sangria or something like that. And then if they wanted something different the waitress could tell them they need to get it from the bar.

I wouldn't consider not providing booze. It's a celebration and people like to drink when they celebrate.

Do you mean that you wont include the unlimited package but you'll start a tab instead and cover the tab, or that you'll make people pay for their own drinks? I don't know that I would invite people to a RD and then have them pay for their own drinks... JMO

No, we just paid the tab... which averaged about two drinks per person... but it was mostly wine and beer.

Re: Another RD question

dfinitely not. I am not including this, they could pay if they want a drink. I may sound mean but A) the RD is not about the drinking, and B) I don't want people getting drunk at my RD.

Maybe I'll get some wine for the tables - I find it a little annoying that I am paying for them to get drunk 2 days later....

i don't think its worth it to pay for the extra wine/beer package per person because not everyone drinks. i would just keep an open tab for those that do drink or order a bottle of wine for the table

Re: Another RD question

Oh HELL to the NO!! They can pay for their own drinks! And being that its the night before the wedding, everyone has a 2 drink maximum anyway. Or ill go zilla on their asses!

Re: Another RD question

We were only going to have wine and beer at the RD, but then decided to get full premium open bar. It was more $$ but FH wanted it, so we got it.
It is def not a necessity if you don't want to do it.

Re: Another RD question

I didn't consider not including it.

I have a hard time with expecting people to attend an event FOR me and making them pay for their own booze.

We just did wine and beer, and one or 2 people ordered cocktails which we just added to the bill.

That being said, you have to do what you (and your wallet!) are most comfortable with!

For us, it was a must. But you don't really have to have it.

ETA: This is the *exact* reason we're not having the rehearsal the night before the wedding! We're having it Wednesday night for a Friday wedding.

Re: Another RD question

we're not, bc our rd is the night before our wedding-and everyone at the rd has to be up by 630, pics starting at 8 am..not dealing with hangovers

they'll deal

we got wine and beer....but not liquor

Re: Another RD question

I'm currently torn, I think it'll depend on the price once settle on where we're going...

At minimum I'm going to do wine and beer.. all of my guests drink and if that's whats available they'll drink that instead of the liquor...
