Well she and I were talking about going to the movies with our DH's and stuff, don't know how it came up, but I mentioned how I never buy my own drink, we just buy a HUGE soda and share it. You see I never finish my drink anyway and DH always ends up drinking it so it is easier if we share. Well she thought it was the most disgusting thing ever. I have also talked to other people who say they also get their own drinks.
I think their is nothing wrong either way, just want to know what you guys do?

It's never effected mine in the least....
A phobia, is a phobia....I don't care what anyone else says, it just bothers me...
I think about the white stuff that gathers on the corner of peoples mouths, or bad breath, or oral hygiene and it all just overwhelms me....
To answer Marcella's post - one has nothing to do with the other in my mind....lol...

I don't drink soda but if I did then I would defintely share with DH. What on earth is so disgusting about that? Doesn't she kiss her husband??? I am sure she puts her mouth in other places, but she can't share a straw. She has issues.

I can understand you Sage.
I always share a drink with DH but for some reason I will never share a bowl of cereal with him - or anyone. I cannot stand the thought of anyone eating the same cereal as me- maybe it's somethign with the milk... who knows? It's wierd but it grosses me out. Although I will share all other food with him- even soup! So I don't know why cereal grosses me out!

DH and I always share a drink. It takes me more than 2 hours to finish even a child size drink!!
Plus why do they make the sodas like bucket size to begin with!!!!

Evryone is free to put you mouth or not put their mouths whereever they please......lol......i didn't say YOU have issues I was talking about K's sister.....In my opinion she has issues.....lol. It is quite illogical to me . But it doesn't affect me either way.....to each his own. I myself have some weird habits and ideas trust me but I suppose I just think that one is mighty weird. I get the no sharing of stuff, I just don't get the not sharing with FH part

i'll drink out of the same glass as someone else (that i KNOW of course) but one thing i'll never share is my ice cream cone!!! when people slobber and lick it and then want you to lick it too? hell no.

We don't go to the movies a lot, but I have no qualms about drinking out of the same glass as DH. I also have no problem sharing a drinking glass with my mom, dad, step-mother, brother, sister, and my little 2-year old niece. Yet, I have this thing about germs on my hands. I hate touching anything in the subway and I wash my hands about 25x at work (I work in a high school). But I will share a drinking glass with my family and close friends.

I do not have a problem with sharing a drink or even certain types of food with Fh but Fh is a germ a phobe! When I mention it to him he denies it but I know! We have been together for 8 years and I think we have shared a drink like 5 times. We have really never shared food unless one was finished and the other was still wanted more. When we go out to a restaurant we will share an appertizer but we both take half, we do not put our forks into the same dish we use seperate dishes. I know how he feels b/c there are certain things that I would never share with anyone like soup, cereal, or ice cream. His whole family is like that but in my family we shared everything with in limits...I guess it depends on you upbringing. I still love him
