Another stamp question

Ok,
so basically sometime in June the stamps are going to go up right? Ok, so the increase is 2 cents right? so the invite should have a 63 cents stamp and a 2 cents stamp right? and the response card should have a 39 cent stamp and a 2 cents stamp correct? Just want to make sure...thanks girls!

I think so. Is it only a 2 cent raise??
Not Sure. Thank Goodness, my RSVP is 4/2

I just don't know anymore...

Now I heard that it is just a proposed raise and not definite...

Re: Stamp question again..

Does anyone know if an 8' x 8' invite would get a 63 cent stamp or regular postage?

Re: Stamp question again..

It depends if it is pocket fold or not...

It is not just by size but also by weight. and 8x8 might be more when you include the rsvp's and the direction cards and all the other stuff you include.

Mine was 8x6 and it was 63 cents.

It goes by weight........ You're probably right but I would double check with the post office. It woudl be a shame if you ordered all those stamps and they were 1 cent off.

Re: Stamp question again..

Maybe you should put yoru rsvp as June 1st so then you won't need to add all the extra stamps?

Mine is actaully June 1st... and I guess I am glad now becuase I didn't even know about an increase!

Well my RSVP is June 1st...so you think I will be safe..and I can just put the 63 cent stamp for the invite and the 39 for the response card???

Re: Stamp question again..

If your RSVP date is 6/1, I think you are safe using the current stamps, based on the reply I got from the USPS.

Here is the e-mail I sent to USPS this week:

I will be sending out my wedding invitations the first week of May. I heard that the rate increase may go into effect in May. Is that true? My RSVP date will be in June, so I would need to know if the stamp on the reply envelope will need to be at the new rate.

Also, I see that a new wedding stamp design is coming in 2007. When will they be available?

Thank you!

Here is the response I got:

Thank you for contacting us about 2007 rate increase.

The exact date of the change is not known at this time, but it will not take place before May 2007.

If I can be of assistance to you in the future, please don't hesitate to contact me. Thank you for choosing the United States Postal Service®.

Regards,

Renee

In reference to the person who asked about postage for an 8x8 invitation, I am pretty sure that those require extra postage, as many of the invitation catalogs mentioned that all of the square invitations will need more postage due to their weight. My FH and I liked the look of the square invites, but ultimately went with a standard rectangle one because we didn't feel like dealing with the postage hassle.
