NO! I don't think most people on LI do this...its more an out of state thing I think

You don't have to do it. I think that is more common outside of New York

No, I think this done when the people need to check off what they will want to eat - the caterer needs to know in advance how many of each thing to prepare. This is not commonly done on LI. I remember DH being all surprised when we did our invites and we did not do this. (he's from upstate)

You don't have to put the meal options with your invites. I know that my hall is going to put a menu by each guests plates so they will be able to see what their choices are.

o.k. now this make sense...the person that is doing my invitations is from out of state....being that I am from queens....I never heard of this.....

Yeah it is really common outside of NY to do this...I double checked with my hall since I have been to more out of NY than NY weddings lately
