Re: Another wedding

It is so nice to see a calm bride on here. I am with you. A few months ago one of my best friend (after a very short courtship) got engaged and decided to get married about 8 months before FH and I. We have 4 of the same bridesmaids and hers is a destination wedding. I love her and I want her to be happy so I did not get upset at all. She did end up buying a dress I was also looking at but we always like similar things (thats why we are friends) and she had no clue it was the exact one I was considering (we have always liked the same style dress - before she was anywhere close to be engaged I mentioned what I liked and she said she wanted something like that one day too). I have just decided I will go for a different style now. I wanted fuscia dresses for my BM and she did too but she asked me if I was definetely picking the color (she new it was one of my options). I wasn't sure yet so I told her to go ahead (she wanted to pick out BM dresses) and I would find something else b/c I wasnt ready to BM shop yet. I am happy for her and am wearing fuscia in Flordia for her wedding. The only thing that is hard is that 2 weddings is a financial burden on our mutual bridesmaids so I have sort of given up hoping for a bachlorette party away like I originally wanted. Some of these girls have a hard time with one wedding and I can't ask them to do a destination wedding and a destination bachlorette in the same year. I must say, my freind has always checked with me and even promised to help plan my wedding when her planning is done. Everyone deserved a fabulous wedding day and just b/c I needed two years to pull one off should not stump my freinds big days!

Awesome attitude! And its great that its not really too close to your wedding, because than it makes it SO much harder to be positive about the whole situation! (No matter how positive I am, I'd be pissed if I had to attend a wedding the night before mine!)

You do have a great attitude!
after I got engaged and booked my wedding, two of my best friends got engaged after me and there was some slight annoyance on my part... not that they were stealing my 'thunder' , but the cost and coordination of everything -

1. My BM got engaged in nov ( i was in august , I booked in sept ) and is getting married 3 weeks after me . I was more concerned about coordinating eveything then really annoyed ( I love this girl so much ) but my FH was pissed!!! I told him that its not a big deal, this is when she wants to get married, we don't own the year

2. One of my oldest friends got engaged onthis past new years eve and is getting married in June. THIS one PISSED me off , since its happening so quick and its in Texas ( where my friend lives) , and yes I am still annoyed by the rush , but I wouldn't miss it for the world

That being said, I will not shorten my honeymoon or change my plans , and i did not complain to anyone, except my FH who is more annoyed then me anyway

Its true - I know of so many people who are having 2008 weddings (besides all of us on LIW ) - I think when people are all around the same age/same level of maturity it just happens....of course i cant wait for my own wedding but i am also excited to party it up at other peoples - ill be doing this all night - (we need an icon for getting trashed and dancing )

HAHA! FMIL was so ticked when her niece got engaged. She said she was taking away from our spotlight!
