Anxious about dress shopping.

I'm so anxious about having to try on dresses. I hate regular clothes shopping and the thought of trying on a wedding gown really makes me want to gag. I going this weekend, so what am I doing the past couple of days to curb my anxiety--eating everything in sight. It certainly won't make the process any easier but yet I can't stop.

oh just take a deep breath - i made sure that i got my hair done before i went shopping - i am not someone who can visualize what it will look like - like if my hair/make up was off i would think the dress looked bad - just a little extra boost - try that and a nice relaxing mani/pedi - im sure you will feel great!

aww don't worry! i felt the same way. i really am not comfortable myself now so dress shopping was more scary than exciting to me. but when i put on the dress i loved (and the sample happened ot fit like a glove!) i wasn't anxious about it - i felt beautiful and was excited that i found the perfect dress!!! i have a photo of it at my desk so i don't snack during the day

GL and don't worry too much!!! i think you'll feel beautiful when you put those gowns on.

I get anxious about normal shopping too... and I was anxious about wedding dress shopping. I made sure to take supportive people with me and also that I tried to have fun....

At the first place I was really shy... by the last place I was a ham... it will be soooooooo much fun in the end.... so take a deep breath... take supporitve people.. and try to have fun..

if your really that anzious i wouldnt' suggest going dress shopping on weekends ... i went the first time with my mom on a saturday and i thought oh ok this is fine there was only like 2 other girls there well whne i came out withmy first dress on there were like 9 other people there!!
Usually weekdays are more low key, some ssalons even have a couple of days that they stay open late to accomodate people.

That being said it wasn't that terrible. Actually towards the end my mom and I were having fun.

I feel the same way... I don't mind regular shopping, I just hate trying things on! And dresses in general never look very good on me.

Thanx everyone! I will try and relax and enjoy the experience. Luckily I'm going to a small salon upstate, so it might not be too busy. I don't think I could handle Kleinfelds or anyplace like that right now. I'm going to try and take pictures, so maybe it will stop me from future snacking as well.

aww dont be nervous!!! its actually alot of fun that first day b/c you come to the realization of 'wow this is really happening' you'l get into it im sure

It's actually a lot of fun. Just think of how gorgeous you will be on your wedding day in your dream dress.

I'm not sure if it's anxiety I'm feeling, but I absolutely HATE shopping of any kind, so I think I'm just dreading the whole trying dresses on and not being able to just pick something off the rack.

At least you are going to a small place. I walked into a David's Bridal a few weeks ago and I was so overwhelmed I stopped all wedding planning until recently. Now I know to stick with the small places!
