Me me!

I am dying to see pictures. I am still unsure about colors for flowers and stuff. Where else did you put flowers besides the tables?
I was thinking:
Front table when you walk in
Table by the couch
I don't think I want flowers for cocktail hour I think I want luminaries instead

I'm a 2011 Woodlands bride!

Did you do low or high flower centerpieces?
Any pictures of the ballroom with your centerpieces?

Where else throughout the mansion did you place flowers?

I'm sure I'll have more questions as it gets closer.

Thank you!!

First things first, I don't have my pro proofs/pics yet boo hoo - as soo as I do, I will post an annoucement! I can't wait for them!

We had a HUGE and amazingly lush arrangement on the entrance table...it was a tightly packed 2 level hydrangea arrangement! I just LOVE the entrance way!

We did luminaries and petit flowers for the CH. We had custom 'H' '&' 'K' luminaries made and put one small glass globe filled with floating flowers on each table. Loved the combination of candlelight and flowers!

We put a pretty large arrangement on the table by the staircase and tealights up the steps (I think the woodlands does this for all evening affairs).

We had a mix of high and low CPs. I wanted to add a sense of dimension to the room...we had 19 tables.

Ahhhhhh I can't wait to get my pics so I can really share our details with you guys!

LOVE THE WOODLANDS!

Although I did not start this thread, as Byrne2Be's date/venue twin, I feel it is appropriate for me to add my input too

We did low centerpieces (mixed flowers in cube vases with small cubes on each side.

We also put a CP on the piano with some picture frames.

In the CH, we just put votive candles on the tables. For the main entrance, I forget what we did with the table. I think we had the guestbook out, but i don't know which flowers. On the mantles (in the main entrance area and CH area) we put various picture frames.

On one of the bars, we put a CP next to the drink menu.

This is such a great helpful thread!

I have some questions too ...

- as of right now, I'm set to have all high centerpieces. Do you think that because the room is so rectangular, having all high centerpieces will block the view of the dance floor for the guests who are sitting at tables closer to the bar? Should I do half high and half low?

- I'm concerned about the room being too dark at night. How did you guys feel about that once the sun went down? Do you think I should opt for getting additional candles to put on the tables or should I consider uplighting?

- Did anyone do any additional decorating for the cocktail hour out on the patio?

Lastly... how was the FOOD????

Amyelizabeth - where did you get the custom drink menu from? Did you make it? And how does it work for the signature drinks - is this something you pick during the tasting?

And yes how was the food?

obviously i dont really know since i didnt have my wedding yet, but i went to a showcase once (at night) and i felt that the lighting in the ballroom was definitely good - not too dark...when i booked, i remember my BM telling me that the lighting/sconces are set to dimmers and you can control how light/dark you want it to be in the room

hth

I'm not planning on uplighting...

Re: any 2011 or 2012 woodlands brides out there?!

I made the drink menus myself (I had a lot of DIY elements)... we told them what drinks we wanted at the final meeting (the week before the wedding). Basically I found drinks I liked (either color or flavor-wise) and renamed them . I'm a bit dorky!

Maybe I'm biased, but I thought the food was phenomenal. And the guests raved about it, incl MIL who is very picky! There are a lot of choices, and our banquet manager was willing to let us swap out some side dishes (ie. string beans instead of spinach, risotto cake instead of potatoes) because it so happened that the 3 meals we picked all had sauteed spinach and mashed potatoes!

Also, they were flexible with the CH stations (we had the mashed potato bar instead of the pacific rim station) as long as you were swapping it for something comparable (aka no seafood bar substitute!)

They gave DH and I a sampler plate of all 3 meals! I wish I had gotten to eat more at the CH. They also brought in a tray of appetizers to the bridal suite after the ceremony for the BP. YUM.

Edit: Re: lighting, since ours was a day wedding, i can't comment on the lighting. As for decorating the patio, as long as it's not too windy, candles or a single flower in a vase would probably be nice. It was too cold for outdoor CH (and we used it for pictures anyway).

Ladies,

Did you cover your chairs or use sashes? Did you even think about it? Not sure what I want to do as I can't even remember what the chairs looked like!

I just want to stare at pictures of weddings there all day!
MMatza Posted:

Re: any 2011 or 2012 woodlands brides out there?!

dmbfan36, they recently got new beautiful chairs. No reason to cover them.

One thing I am hoping for is new bathroom carpeting. It's really worn and needs to be replaced, in my opinion. I had mentioned this to Dave, the GM and he didn't make any promises, but did recognize that they should be replaced.

ITA about the chairs - they are beautiful and don't require covers. I honestly cannot remember anything about the bathroom carpet. I think I might have used the bathroom once all day and I used the bridal suite one.

AmyElizabeth,

Hi! I am also having my wedding during the day and am having low centerpieces. I was worried about the room looking empty with the low centerpieces, but from what I can see in your pictures, it looks great!! Do you have any other pictures of the tables that you can share with me? I am also having plum bm dresses and purple flowers, so any more pictures would be so helpful!
