Any advice? Rehearsal Dinner - nobody will let us do it!

Any advice? Rehearsal Dinner - nobody will let us do it!

So we have a situation. Has anyone ever heard of this?

We can't rehearse for our ceremony because we're marrying at the hall on Saturday morning. We need to then rehearse quickly before the actual wedding. Not a big deal I guess... (this is because a wedding will be going on Friday night at the hall) ...

I have called a number of places near the Riveria so we can do a 'Thank You' dinner on the Friday night before wedding. People will be in town from all over the place so it's only fitting to do it at like 6PM the Friday night.

Nobody will allow us to do it because #1 it's a Friday night and #2 we have too many people - 31 (this includes bridal party and their dates, kids in wedding and their parents).

Picolo's in Bellemore won't do it unless it's 3-6 or 9-11 at night.

Butera's can't hold that many on a Friday night nor will they do a catering style menu.

Katy Daly's said they may be able to if we're there at 5 on the nose and no private room for that size.

Caio Baby is way out of our price range and they too were not happy about the Friday night 31 people situation. Said 5 on the dot may be doable, but the total cost was like close to $2K and way over our budget.

Sergio's I'm afraid to call cuz I've heard it's kinda not so nice.

Next, I'm calling Michelle at the Riveria for suggestions. This is crazy and none of our family members can host that large of a group and the Best Western does not have a party room of any sort.

WOW thats so weird considering most RD's are friday ...i am doing mine thursday though, is it possible you can do that?

BUT the whole thing about either 5 or 6 or 9-11 might be the whole shift change thing, its going from lunch to dinner shift and many restaurants do this, so i guess for a party it might be hard

I wish we could do it another night but like a bulk of our bridal party are from other states like Vermont, NJ etc. We're coming in from NJ ourselves and I can't seem to get everyone to get there on Thurs. then back out there on Friday :(

Try Rosemarie's Restaurant in Farmingdale. It's in a little shopping center and they are usually very accomodating - even at last minute notice. They are reaonsably priced and the food is good.

You know what, i went to a RD in LI around the massapequa area which i know is near riviera. Let me find out the name of it. It wasn't a friday night but hopefully they can accomodate you. Excellent food too

Thanks for all your help girls. I just called Piccolo's one more time, turns out they can do it just for a higher price. YEY! I liked that joint because it was a straight run from the Best Western.

Not to sound like a cheapie - but I had no idea these dinners were like $40-$55 per person out on LI. Like wow :( Our dinner is gonna come to like $2K with a wine toast.

there are places that are less. I always see girls who post RD prices they're paying in LI and seen many that are alot lower.

eta: if you're uncomfortable with the price, keep looking

We had ours on a Friday night at Stresa East on Jericho Turnpike in Woodbury. They have a private room, but I think the minimum was 50 people. If you don't mind not having a private room, I'm pretty sure they would be able to help you.

There's also a place Rosewood Inn in Melville, near the Hilton. I'm not sure how many the accommodate, but I'm pretty sure they do private parties. We were too many people.

ETA: One other suggestion ... does the hotel you're using for your OOT guests have a restaurant or a banquet room that you can use & have catered?

I have the same problem you do, we are getting married Sunday morning at RH and cant do a rehearsal Saturday nite there, I to was looking for a place for RD no one wants to give up space on a Saturday nite or they want a small fortune, I love Picolos too, FH most fav place to eat, I am looking in to knights of Columbus hall and have Picolos bring the food there

Hope it works out for you

If you're willing to go to Lynbrook try Angelina's in Lynbrook.

Did you try Sidekicks in Mass Park? Or maybe the Wantagh Inn?
