Any Ani DiFranco fans out there???

I know Stephanie Elyse is....

Check this out!!!!

Ani is pregnant!!!!

wow. cool.

I have a few of her CDs and used to listen to her a lot. I never been to any of her concert.
One of my friend went and she said it was 99% lesbians there.
So I always assumed Ani was lesbia too.
Looks like I was wrong....

wouldn't be the first time.
hehe

Not a huge fan but I listen every now and then, my friend LOVES HER!!!

Don't mean to crash but....If there are Ani fans out on LIW there's GOT to be some Aimee Mann fans....anyone? I loooove Aimee and don't know many people who know much about her! She was the lead singer of Til Tuesday back in the 80's (remember Voices Carry?) and she sang on the soundtrack to the movie Magnolia. Anyone???

Ani's my favoritest of favorites. Thanks for the newsflash!

I like Aimee Mann also. Saw her perform with Squeeze many moons ago, believe it or not.

WFUV 90.7 fm plays her music a lot.

awesome. I love acoustic shows!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Aimee Mann!!! Never saw her in concert though... I may know a lot of the women singers that many people never heard of, so lets talk!!!

I've seen Ani MANY times in concert... yes, she is big with the lesbian demographic.... Years ago she was a chick with a shaved head and a guitar... so that will definitely attract that crowd for sure...

She has referred to herself as bi, so I'm sure she has been with her share of women - she has some songs about that as well, but lately, I've seen her with men - either married, dating, or obviously getting jiggy with!

Reprieve is a great album - I got it for my bday!

You gotta see Aimee live! She's just awesome!! The only album of hers I don't have is her xmas album that just came out...she's actually doing a few xmas shows in the city but they're on weeknights so I can't make it. -( But when she comes around to promote a new album, definitely check her out! She plays at Town Hall in the city alot, I've seen her at the Beacon Theater...even saw her in Huntington last year!! Just saw her in Wayne, NJ since I just moved here...

It amazes me that not many people know her stuff. Her lyrics are brilliant, her melodies are always memorable...she RULES!!!

To be honest...the only recent singer songwriter I really listen to is Aimee...I need to discover more people! I get stuck into 1, 2, 3 different singers/bands and don't listen to much else haha! And I listen to Q104. At least my ipod gives me variety!:

If you like Aimee and Ani, then you HAVE to listen to 90.7 WFUV - its the only station I listen to when I'm not listening to my Sirius....

I'm so stuck on Q104 though...there's never a song I don't know on that station!

WFUV plays a lot of songs from artists no one knows - so if you start listening to it, you wont be familiar with anyone, but the music is so good, you keep listening... then, when you listen regulalrly, you start recognizing singers and songs - DH got turned on to WFUV because of me, and its weird - he knows all the artists that I love all of a sudden!

I definitely need to check it out- gotta broaden my horizons. I'm so stuck in the 60's/70's/80's!

I know! I'm so happy for her! Ani is my #1, absolute favorite. (coming in close with Mike Patton though ) I had read a month or two ago that she was pregnant, and then I never saw anything else about it.
I've seen her in concert a ton of times. I always worry that it'll be her last show~ I wonder if she'll tour with the baby?!
I'm so happy for her , she's amazing!

That's cool! mazeltov to her! i've seen Ani a bunch of times in concert, am a fan! I loooooooove FUV, and 104.3 too for that matter. I dig Aimee Mann, although not as much as Ani. And actually, my favorite female guitar slinger these days is Melissa Ferrick, anyone into her? She's amazing, and she's playing the Bowery tomorrow night!!!!

---

OOOH - I like Melissa Ferrick - I have a few of her albums - I would love to see her live sometime - i know she plays in the city a lot! Right now, we are budgetting for baby ourselves, so that puts a moratorium on any live music for a while, unfortunately!!!!

Let me know how she is though!!!

OK - since we are talking obscure female artists - if anyone here is into Patty Griffin, I will personally come over to their house and bow down to them!!!

Lemme tell you what I need, I need Moses/to part this sea of loneliness and cross this red river of pain

I dig Patty, although I seem to like what other people do with her songs more than her versions.
