Any Ani DiFranco fans out there???

Thats too funny its on LIW! I knew about this months ago because my best friend (Bridesmaid actually) works for her in Buffalo! The only things I wear say ani on them because there all free!

OOOH - I like Melissa Ferrick - I have a few of her albums - I would love to see her live sometime - i know she plays in the city a lot! Right now, we are budgetting for baby ourselves, so that puts a moratorium on any live music for a while, unfortunately!!!!

Melissa Ferrick's show was last night, and it was awesome!!! She played with a full band, and actually, with Julie Wolf and Sarah Lee there, we were joking that she was playing with the Ani alumae band. Not only that, but (speaking of maybe not so obscure *** kickin women with guitars) Erin McKeown and Natalia Zuckerman came out for a bunch of tunes. Great set, very high energy. She didn't play moses, tho.

I saw Melissa Ferrick for free at a street fair in SF when she was first getting started. It was pretty cool.

I like Patty Griffin also, but I *really* like Patty Larkin.

I LOOVE, Love Erin!!! Saw her play a ton of times at Falcon Ridge Folk Fest - especially up on the hill when she was just another kid with a guitar!

And Carrie Ann - I love Patty Larkin too - she played at Falcon Ridge as well one year - she ROCKS!!!

ah, my dirty (not so) secret is out. Yep, I'm a guy. Guilty as charged. And yes, I love grrls with guitars as much as coltrane, hendrix, dylan, tito puente, and krs one. You're a falcon ridge vet, eh? Never got there, but have heard tons of great stuff from the people who've played there.

Erin actually toured with Melissa last spring, and I missed it they did an awesome cover of ring of fire with Melissa playing trumpet.

Wow thats awesome - I'm not just a falcon ridge vet - I am one of the CORE volunteer people in parking - I'm kind of a big deal there Nah - but this will be my 9th summer there - I started going there as a little 20-something spit fire, and then I began lugging my boyfriend, who then began joining me as my fiancee, who then joined me as husband along with his 2 daughters, and this year I'll be coming with baby plus family - so I've come a LOOOONG way at this festival, baybee!!!

I also am a contra dance nazi - not sure how familiar you are with the folk music-contra dance connection....
